Old School Wrestling

Gangsta D:

I was at Sam Goody yesterday and I saw a Road Warriors Compilation DVD. Over 6 hours of LOD action with commentary. If it wasn't $30, i would've definitely copped it. How Waldini feels about Flair, is how I feel about Hawk and Animal. What other tag team you know, pins their opponents before their theme music stops playing:)

Waldini:

LMAO on the "pin opponent" comment. True, Ironman wasnt' halfway thru and LOD had scored another victory. Hey did you see what matches were on theDVD? Go to either Best Buy or Wal-Mart and see what they are charging for that DVD. When the Ric Flair DVD came out, it was initially $30 and like you, I wasn't buying it. Then a few months later, I was walking in Best Buy and it was there for 17.99 and that's when I bought it.

Da Realist:

i loved ric flair and i loved the road warriors. backthen my favorite was lex luger and his human torture rack. he wasn't a very good "talker", but i was amazed at how sculpted his body was. this was backwhen he wrestled with ric flair, dusty rhodes and ricky steamboat and sting...neither of whom could match him muscle for muscle. but then i eventually saw the light and switched overto ric flair and the four horsemen. always acknowledging my favorite tag team was the roadwarriors. (remember they turned on dusty and gouged his eye out with a spike?) those were the days.

Waldini:

Actually I do remember that...didnt Dusty get Sting and then they took on LOD at Starrcade, Clash Of Champions or one of those major events.

I got an old school moment for you. How about the time Dusty put a baseball bat toTully Blanchard, in retialiation for Tully attacked a handicapped Magnum TA the week before. CLASSIC I remember waking up on Sat morning to watch NWA onTBS at 8:05am EST, then rushing to get home in the afternoon to catch it again 6:05pm EST on TBS. Then on one of the local channels, they would show a 3 hr block ofwrestling beginning at 11pm (NWA, WWF, Glow). Oh,those were the days....

Da Realist:

you remember G.L.O.W??? i actually watched this before i started watching the men wrestle (or rassle, as arkansans say). used to come on at 8am and i was right there watching all of it. mt. fuji, pocohontas, big bad mama...

Gangsta D:

Yes it's NWA not WCW:) GLOW was a joke, but good for a laugh every now and then. You remember the Flying Mulkeys?!? They didn't do too much flying but got many a foot up the poopshoot. I do remember they did win onematch, but can't remember who they beat.

One of my favorite memories is when Ron Garvin Beat Flair for the title on my birthday. Remember when Jim Cornette threw fire in Ron Garvin's face. I was brokenhearted...

Waldini:

They beat the Conquistadors, who were not as bad as the Mulkeys but definitely a "jobber" team for the likes of LOD, Rock N Roll Express, Midnight Express, etc Read more!

Rix Hate & Comical Expectations

Da Realist:

i wonder how chris rix feels being the butt ofeveryone's jokes. maybe i should stop. he was only a kid, not a professional. i kinda feel bad for him.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writers/stewart_mandel/09/27/mailbag/index.html

Gangsta D:

Nah, when you're the QB at a top school you expect to be treated differently. If he was the QB of Central Florida Tech, it wouldn't matter. But FSU, you know going in you're gonna be on the hot seat. If you don't perform, you get fire roasted. Same thing with Brock. It comes with the territory...

Waldini:

I personally got a kick out of the LSU fan and Michigan fan, who both wrote in about restoring their respective teams to championship levels. Am I missing something here. Both schools have won 1 title a piece in the last50 years. Ok, maybe they are talking about their NCAA dynasty mode on PS2:-). Get ur people puhlease.... Read more!

The 'U vs The Hokies

Da Realist:

i wished you lived a little closer. i'm going to find a way to get to this game in early november. something tells me this is going to be a classic.

Gangsta D:

If our O-line gets their head our of their arse and keep Kyle off theground, we'll be fine. We're starting to get there. Sinorice Moss looks to be over taking Ryan Moore as #1 WR. The defense is succeptible to big runs due to how we play man to man. But if we stop you on 1st down and you have to pass, you better be good cause the secondary is nasty. If we build on each week, I like our chances in Blacksburg.

Da Realist:

anything can happen. but at least on paper, this game has the potential to be something special. by nov. 5, miami will be all it's supposed to be. kyle wright should have enough seasoning to be effective. the o-line should have all the kinks worked out and everyone should know who the go-to receiver is. they'll have the motivation of last year's loss in the orange bowl.

virginia tech on the other hand will be playing at home, probably undefeated and possibly playing for a spot in the rose bowl. they, unlike fsu, are not intimidated by miami and everyone will want to see what marcus vick will do in the biggest game of his career. Da Wife's birthday is this saturday (oh yeah,HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!), and i'm going to try and surprise her with tickets. we'll see. in the meantime, i'm going to be in the uncomfortable position of hoping miami DOES NOT lose. how strange is this? if miami loses, the game loses much of it's luster. GO MIAMI (at least until nov. 5)!!! Read more!

So!!!!!

Gangsta D:

OK, so you were both right about OSU and UT. So what? I guess Comp Sci Hoes stick together. Yeah I said it!!!!

Waldini:

Don't be mad Twoinnnee :-)

Realist, I didnt call you back because I was so heated when the crew went down 21-0, that I switched to playing PS2 and watching VH1 Hip Hop honors at the same time. Periodicially I check the game's score and when it became 24-21, I started watching fully again. When Riggs punched it in in OT, I was stoked and I told my wife to tell herLouisiana family that WINNERS WIN, LOSERS LOSE, hahahahaha

Nate Dogg called me shortly afterwards and I said it was a good day

D, I still dont know why you picked Iowa. They are highly overrated.

Da Realist:

i sat and watched that whole ugly game. the only reason i kept watching was because i knew that even though it was 21-0, lsu scored 14 of those off stupid tennessee turnovers. lsu was playing with so much emotion in that first half, i thought it would take a toll on them in the end. sure enough, lsu players started cramping in the 3rd quarter. i just think it was too much to overcome. the emotion of a night game in tiger stadium, not enough conditioning (they only played one game prior) and the weight of all of louisiana on their backs as they tried to win this for them.

that being said...that sound you just heard was erik ainge officially losing his starting spot for this year. just like last year. what's potential if you don't produce? that flea flicker deep in his own endzone to a crowd of lsu defenders to make it 21-0 was the most boneheaded play i have ever seen (this side of nate newton's thanksgiving gift). and i went through four years of CHRIS RIX!

Gangsta D:

You mean Leon Lett. Nate's biggest bonehead play was being caught with 200 pounds of weed...TWICE.

Da Realist:

yeah, you're right. now THAT is the most boneheadedplay i've ever seen!

Waldini:

Dude when Ainge threw that shovel pass from the endzone, I literally leaped ouf of my dinner table chair and was like What da eff??? They want him to be Peyton so bad but he's not. They are rushing him to stardom and honestly dude is mediocre at best right now. He can improve but I'm tired of Fulmer and Co trying to shove him down our throats week after week. Read more!

Predictions Bitches

Da Realist:

usc at oregon - oregon doesn't have the defense to keep it close. usc

colorado at miami - miami haven't really found their stride and i do think colorado is looking at this game as their one true shot this year at recognition. but i don't think colorado will be able to withstand that south florida heat for four quarters. miami

iowa at ohio state - i don't think ohio state will lose another game this year. troy smith is the clear cut starter now. ohio state

washington at notre dame - washington is just not that good. notre dame

ga tech at va tech - this will be a defensive struggle but va tech pulls out in the end. va tech

tenn at lsu - i don't think tennessee will make the same mistake they made at florida. they will run the ball down lsu's throats and their defense is good enough to bottle up lsu. i'm not that convinced of jamarcus russell yet. tennessee.

Gangsta D:

Oregon will hang for a minute because they can score and USC isn't as dominant on defense as they have been the past two years. But, Matt Leinart is the best QB in Cali (pros included) and they will roll in the 2nd half.

Watched the Clemson game on ESPN Classic last night. When Kyle isn't picking himself off the ground he can deliver the ball pretty well. Tyrone Moss looks like he's ready to take the next step. When the defense attacks they are dominant. It's just a matter of putting it together for 4 qtrs.

Said all I'm gonna say about the 'Bucks.

Washington is a pretty bad team. I didn't realize they only won one game last year. As much as it pains me to say it, Notre Dame will probably win.

With a healthy Reggie Ball, I would take GT because I'm still not sold on Ron "New" Mexico yet. But without a 100% Reggie, the Hokies will probably win 14-10.

UT has two QBs, so they don't have any. I don't know that their offense is as good as ASU's, but they're defense is probably better. So they're even, and I have to go with QB play. At least the Tigers have a definite starter. It's a toss up but I go with the Bayou Bengals.

Waldini:

USC beats Oregon but not without a first half scare. In the second half, reality sets in and USC handles it's business.

Miami handles Colorado. As a whole, I think the Big 12 is a joke, even withTexas being as good as it is this year. Ohio State over Iowa, simply because I do not know any of the starters or impact players on Iowa. At least I know who Troy Smith even if I dont know (and dont care) who else plays for Ohio State :-)

Va tech over GT in a squeaker. GT's offense vs VT's defense will decide the outcome of this game

Tenn over LSU b/c I dont pick against the boys :-). Seriously, Tenn's defense is legit and LSU's offense hasnt seen a D like Tenn's yet so it should be interesting. The only thing that worries me is playing at TigerField at night time. For whateva reason, LSU always plays like a champ whenever the game is ESPN televised and at night time Read more!

It's The Sport Of Kings...

Da Realist:

does willingham get payback tomorrow?
can oregon hange with usc?
can tennessee really end up being 0-2 in conference play?
can colorado knock off miami?
can iowa go to the horseshoe and kill ohio state's rose bowl dreams?

Gangsta D:

God I hope so!
Maybe for a half.
Good chance.
Nope.
Yep.

Da Realist:

you think iowa is going to beat ohio state? i guess the buckeyes haven't impressed you so far... wait a minute. this isn't some cold analytical prediction. you are still salty about 2 1/2 years ago! your answer to number 5 is basically the same as the answer to number 1.

Gangsta D:

What has OSU done to impress anyone? They had Texas on the ropes at home and got beat. They don't really have a QB, and they don't know how to use their outside speed. OK, they've got a good linebacking core but how have they demonstrated dominance? Iowa always loses one of their first 2-3 games, but ends up winning 10. And of course I'm still salty! Read more!

UNLV Fixin' Rebs?

Da Realist:

is USC TROJANS the 2005 college football version of 1991 UNLV RUNNING REBELS? and if they are, is there a college football version of DUKE?

Gangsta D:

Only if there are enough Trojans willing to throw the game. Yeah I saidit!!!!

Da Realist:

WHOA!!! as lee corso would say, "i say nothing!"

Gangsta D:

Two UNLV players are caught in a pic with a known fixer and there's all this hullabaloo about the Rebs and gambling. Yet NOBODY even deigns to suggest they threw that game...in which they were overwhelming favorites. Think the people that bet on Duke made some money off that game? Come on! The fix was in, but no one wants to bring it up because it would diminsh Coach K. UNLV was messing up that whole game. They didn't play UNLV ball. It wasn't anything that Duke was doing. But that was 14 years ago and I digress...

Da Realist:

:-) funny. you got to let it go, man. that unlv team had never been tested before. that game was the first time they ever felt any pressure. they were in big games that year (most notable a #1 vs #2 matchup with my beloved hogs in fayetteville that i kept skipping out of church to catch in glimpses across the street at a chinese corner market store...don't tell mom) but they slaughtered the opponent every time. unlv had some players like larry johnson, anderson hunt, greg anthony and stacy augmen. but duke had grant hill, christian laettner, bobby hurley, thomas hill and andrew lang...not exactly chopped liver. let it go...

Gangsta D:

Oh I'm over it, but the game was still thrown and no one will ever convince me otherwise. If you take that game and compare it to the Arkansas game(which i couldn't skip out of church cause we're in the cut) you'll see two totally different UNLV teams. But like I said, I digress...

Waldini:

I dont care what anyone says, UNLV threw that game. I mean think about it. They won the title the year before, and the next year they were undefeated going into the tournament. What do you think the oddsmakers were betting that UNLV would repeat? Its like that classic episode of South Park where Satan took on Jesus in a boxing match. Everybody betted against Jesus b/c they thought Satan would pummel Jesus. So what did Satan do? He threw the fight!! And no Realist, I dont think Duke is Jesus in disguise or Satan is UNLV, etc etc etc

Gangsta D:

thank you. I see someone else isn't drinking the kool-aid.

Da Realist:

this is just too funny. what have any of the unlv players done since then to prove they are/were clutch and could handle the intense pressure of a close game against an opponent that wouldn't back down? larry johnson was the best player on that team, but he's a muscular version of chris webber. stacy augmen was a defensive specialist, but couldn't really create his own shot. greg anthony was erratic at best. andersen hunt...he was ok. this team won on athletic ability and intimidation. they didn't even play anybody that year except arkansas and a bunch of fresno states! and i can tell you first hand that arkansas was scared. most teams were scared before getting off the bus. in fact, DUKE was scared the year before in the final game. this is why they lost by 30 points! duke had all year to ponder that 30 point loss. all year.

i'm no duke fan, but you had to respect their resolve back in the early 90's. they were well-coached and they had heart. they were the only team NOT to back down from unlv. they slowed the tempo and force unlv to actually run plays (which is not a strong point of any jerry tarkanian team). they forced unlv to play disciplined defense for the whole shot clock (again, another liability of jerry's boys). their weaknesses were exposed. contrary to what you probably believe, i hated duke and wanted badly for unlv to win. but they lost, plain and simple. this duke team went on to win the championship this year AND the next year. this was not nc state beating fly slamma jamma (university of houston). this christian laettner-led team was not a fluke.

so you two believe unlv threw the game. did tyson throw his match to buster douglas? did oklahoma, when pundits called them the greatest team ever, throw the game to kansas state in the big 12 championship? unlv threw the game....but don't let someone even mention there may have been a conspiracy involved with game 6 of the 2002 conference finals between LA and sacramento. as a wise man once said, "WINNERS WIN AND LOSERS LOSE!!!"

Gangsta D:

Has Tyson ever been pictured with a fight fixer...I mean other than DonKing? Has anyone at OU been pictured with gamblers? UNLV's program got dismantled due to that picture, but NO WAY IN THE WORLD would they have thrown the game against Duke which they were heavily favored? Come on! But like I said, I am truly over it. But, you will never convince me that game wasn't fixed... Read more!

Question of the half-day

Waldini:

Will folks ever realize that Dave Wannstedt cannot coach and is meant to be a coordinator not head coach? If you need proof, check out his W-L total in Miami & Chicago and current W-L in Pittsburgh

But Art Shell cant get a job???

Da Realist:

you know about the good old boy network in the nfl and nba. recycle coaches regardless of success. art shell is a good example for the nfl, but what about kc jones in the nba? did he not win 2 championships? that's more than larry brown and the same as chuck daly. larry can get any coaching position he wants. chuck daly got a chance to coach the DREAM TEAM. kc's only shot at coaching was the WNBA. a shame.

Waldini:

That is an excellent point. Larry Brown is being promoted as the greatest teacher ever, even though he had a hidden agenda during your old's team playoff run. But look at the number of black coaches in the NBA vs the number of black coaches in the NFL. The NBA is at least trying to diversify itself Read more!

Symmetry? Hell Nah...

Da Realist:

look at the symmetry of this d. your teams (miami hurricanes and dallas cowboys) both lost games they should have won against a garnet and gold rival named after native americans.

Waldini:

How long did you sit thinking of that :-)

Da Realist:

i was at the gym for lunch and espn was showing highlights. they kept showing santana moss catching those 2 td passes and i thought, "damn, he looks strange in garnet and gold. almost like he's wearing fsu gear". that's when i put it all together. :-)

Gangsta D:

It's not symmetry...it's BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Waldini:

Why are u messin with D today? U know he aint in a good mood. He stayed up late to watch his boys lose. And then he had to get up early to come into work. :-)

Da Realist:

at least cowboys have a rematch. i'm actually going to that game dec. 18. Read more!

Monday Night

Da Realist:

And now introducing the Washington Redskin offense...
David Patten...Western Carolina
Robert Royal...Louisiana State University
Mark Brunell...University of Washington
Santana Moss...The 'U'
======================================================
did you guys hear this last night? Al Michaels said,"...and for those that may not know, the 'U' means University of Miami..."unbelievable.

Waldini:

That musta been your first time hearing that b/c theMiami alums have been doing that for 3 years on MNF.

Gangsta D:

I got a little advice for Mike Zimmer, Dallas' D-Coordinator. DON'T PUT A 34 YR OLD CB ON A GUY THAT RUNS A 4.3!!!!!! Somebody wanna tell me why Aaron Glen was on Santana Moss TWICE. And lo and behold, both times he caught a touchdown. Why isn't Terrence Newman, who had a pick, or Anthony Henry, who was shutting down whoever he was covering, on Santana Moss who bythe way runs a 4.3!!!!! I didn't get to bed until 1:30 last night. I was heavily annoyed...

Da Realist:

nah...i just thought it was a nice bit of foreshadowing. i actually thought d would be happy because santana moss used to play for THE U. but i forgot he is a cowboys fan. Read more!

What Do We Know? What Can We Prove?

Good news:

Miami - We actually converted three field goals. If we'd shown this proficiency earlier, we'd be 2-0.
UT - You held the vaunted "Meyer Spread" to only one offensive touchdown.
FSU - Weatherford may have become a real QB with his 4th QTR performance.

Bad News:

Miami - We blew a ten point 4th Qtr lead and took 3OTs to win the game.
UT - You only scored one offensive touchdown.
FSU - It took Weatherford 2 3/4 games to figure outhow to hit a reciever in stride.

So what do we know? FSU is undefeated but come on, are they really the fifth best team in the nation. Miami still has not worked out the kinks and may play several more nail biters before the year is out. UT may have a more dire QB situation than FSU. Where's Brent Schaeffer again?

What can we prove? Absolutely nothing. Who knows what gonna happen the rest of the year?

Da Realist:

you pretty much said it all. miami should be 2-0, but you were one overthrown pass from being 0-2. i still can't believe the gift UT gave florida. Gators should be filling out thank-you cards and sending them to knoxville. what can i say about fsu? 13 yards rushing? and we won? i don't know what to say except that i get this sneaking suspicion that one of these days someone will beat us 49-10. at home. and that will be the end ofthat.

out of the 3 of us, d is sitting pretty. the virginia tech game will make or break your season. everyone else on the schedule are cupcakes.
fsu --> @virginia, maryland, nc state, @clemson, @florida (but keep in mind, we could lose to ANYBODY left on our schedule...except duke)
tenn --> @lsu, georgia, @alabama, south carolina,@notre dame. (and don't sleep on memphis)

Waldini:

I already told you that my Vols' schedule was brutal. And considering that I didnt expect ND, Alabama or SC to play well this year, it makes the road even tougher....

Do you realize Tenn's offense is averagin 12 pts a game?? And their defense is only giving up 13 a game?? If the offense lays an egg this Sat in LSU, look for LSU's victory margin to be much wider than Florida's. Fulmer needs to decide on one QB, plain and simple.

Now do you see realist why I was being hesistant to say Tenn is back. Championships are won on the field, not on paper....

I would happy FSU has not lost yet. I rather take an ugly W than a moral victory aka Loss any day. You win, you get to major bowls. You lose and you're lookin at Blockbuster.com and Continental Tire Bowls...

Miami showed heart on Sat. Clemson is definitely better than people give them credit for and they played tough. But the better team won and now Miami can focus on next week. Who are you guys playin anyway?

I would be completely pissed off today but a) Notre Dame lost, and b) my Titans pulled an upset yesterday.

Gangsta D:

If we can figure out how to work out the kinks we'll be fine going intoBlacksburg. I just have a feeling we're gonna play in a bunch of close games that don't need to be close. Hopefully, we'll win them which will improve confidence.

Waldini:

The only thing I know about football right now is USC and Texas look like studs and everyone else looks like a pretender.

i STILL don't believe in texas. i don't know why...but i just don't believe in them. mark down the last gameagainst reggie mcneal and texas a&m at collegestation.

UT In The BCS Against USC...

Da Realist:

texas just may end up in the rose bowl this year...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9303310/page/2/

Waldini:

Hey if they do, they deserve to be there and all I can do is respect that. I may not care for teams but if they win, I do respect them. Call me theWes Mantooth of Sports....These teams are like Ron Burgundy to me

Notre Dame
Texas
Big 10 conference
Utah Jazz
Denver Broncos
Boston Celtics
San Antonio Spurs
Miami Heat

"I hate you Ron Burgundy BUT DAMMIT, I respect you" - Wes Mantooth

Gangsta D:

I think people need to just let the season play out. My God, two games does not a season make. If the Dolphins and the niners can win on opening day in the NFL, anything can happen in college. Texas isn't used to prosperity. How will they handle it? Brad Smith isn't a slouch. Missouri could sneak up and get them. Right now, only USC deserves universal praise. Everybody else has to earn it by completing the season.

Waldini:

I agree. There were major upsets galore but I will not make any real assessments until week 7 or 8. Remember in the 2003 opener when Buffalo blasted the Patriots 31-0. Anyone remember what happened at the end of that season?

I still think Favre is done though :-) Read more!

The Beast

Waldini:

I watched most of the Men's US Open Final last night and for a sec, I thought Agassi was about 2 pull of da biggest upset of his career. If you didnt watch, the match was tied at 1 set apiece and Andre was leading 2-0in the 3rd set. Then reality set in....Federer rediscovered his backhand and Andre started to look noticeably tired. Roger ended the game in 4 sets. Nevertheless, Andre was making Fed work for his forat least half of the match. Comments?

Gangsta D:

"Federali" is a beast. Only person that can stop him is a chick:)

Da Realist:

of course i watched! what a great match. still got it on tivo. that's a good as i've seen andre play, yet he lost in 4 sets. this match said a hell of a lot about andre, but it said quite a bit about roger, too. the guy did not play his best yet had enough to still beat andre in 4. i don't think andre was tired in that last set as much as he felt defeated. he tried everything. he threw everything but the kitchen sink at roger in that 3rd set and still lost it. (same as hewitt the daybefore) the guy is a machine.

here's an interesting article detailing andre's postmatch comments...

Da Realist:

what in the HELL is going on this year? florida state beats miami in an ugly game it didn'tdeserve to win. oklahoma loses at home to TCU. vanderbilt actually wins an sec game. on the road. notre dame dominates two ranked opponents on the road. (d meet knute rockne). and TEXAS finally wins a big game. against a top 5 team. on the road. led by vince young. (mr. waldini and Realist, what would you be having today? i think i'll have the suauteed crow while my friend mr. waldini would like his baked, thank you) what's next? a mid-major winning the title?

Waldini:

:-)....you're right, Brown & Young made me eat some crow last night. I thought they would fold under pressure but I have to give it to them for pulling out a tough victory. And remember how folks were on Georgia;s bandwagon saying they were the cream of the SEC. Let last night's game be a lesson to everyone. The football season is long and ANYTHING can happen from one week to the next. And do you realize all 3 of the Big 10's top teams (Oh St, Mich, Iowa) all lost yesterday??? Young Vincent...Worthy Of Hype?

Waldini:

Tomorrow, there are 2 big games so I am wondering who you guys are rollingwith....

NOTRE DAME vs MICHIGAN - Personally, I dont like either for different reasons. But if I have to choose the lesser of two evils, I take Michigan. If Weis gets ND to go 5-0 then I will start to give them some respect.

TEXAS vs OHIO STATE - Again two teams I dont particularly care for. But living in Texas has made my dislike for UT strong soI'm going with Ohio St. I find it bizarre that I am picking two Big 10 teams to win, especially since I think the conference is overrated.

It's a celebration b******es, grab yo drink, grabyoglass, after that, Igrab yo a%%

Da Realist:

are you asking who we are rooting for or who we think is gonna win? then again, it doesn't matter. they are one and the same for me this week anyway... notre dame over michigan. lloyd carr's wolverines is the north's version of bobby bowden seminoles and mack brown's longhorns. loads of talent, but they can be outcoached. michigan should be in title contention every year, but they always lose a game or two they shouldn't. this will be one of those games.

ohio state over texas. i can't believe how overrated texas is this year. when have they won a big game? ok, ok. so they won the rose bowl over michigan last year, but michigan is on their level (read previouspoint). vince young is no michael vick. i think he's the most overhyped player in college football.

Waldini:

Realist, I would love to take to you to my barbershop this wknd so you can back me up on the Vince Young point....These cats around here swear he is the truth based on one game. I'm like, where was he during the regular season??

Gangsta D:

Well, tomorrow I hope he's the man cause I'm sick of hearing about theBuckeyes. After tomorrow, he can go back to being overhyped.

Da Realist:

still holding grudges, huh? sorry, d. i'm with Waldini on this one. i just can't see vince young leading the longhorns past ohio state. i can't see a scenario where mack brown doesn't get outclassed tomorrow. it may happen, but i would be as shocked as anyone. Read more!

Damn, that's seems so like Trev Alberts. Can't sayI'm broken up about it:) I shan't shed a tear...

Da Realist:

he wasn't my favorite, but he was CERTAINLY better than mark may.

Waldini:

I'm gonna miss how he and Mark May would get into it at times....Classic moment btw them. You remember when Nebraska fired Frank Solich? On CollegeGameday, Mark May was going off on Nebraska fans and athletic dept for being unrealistic and not accepting their decline. He was like how many coaches get fired for averaging 9 wins a season. Trev's face was turning bright red as he obviously was not in agreeance with May. Hilarious

Da Realist:

i remember that. that was one of the highlights ofthe show. i wonder who they'll replace him with? it's too bad something couldn't have been worked out. i enjoyed the dynamic of the first team reporting from the game of the week, setting things up. then the second team updates us the rest of the day, ending with the midnight show.

Gangsta D:

I wouldn't say that. He's opinionated, and there's nothing wrong with that. But he was sometimes wrong, which made him looklikean idiot in my book.

Da Realist:

he was wrong quite a bit. and he came off sounding more like a jock than sports analyst. but mark may's sin is something even worse...he's boring.

Gangsta D:

He just seems that way because he's soft spoken. But I think he has wit, it's just not in your face. I think that's cool, because EVERYBODY else isin your face...paging Mr. Corso:)

Da Realist:

that's right. take a shot at the fsu guy... it doesn't stop, does it? Read more!

FSU Still Sucks....But They Won :(

Top 5 Reasons The 'U Lost:

1. Offensive line play - Giving up 10 sacks is an embarrasment. True Kyle held the ball too long on a couple plays, but no way does Miami's O-line get beat like that. Receivers were open but, it's hardto throw bombs laying onyour back.

2. Mental Lapses - Dropped balls, muffed punts, stupid penalties, and INT's killed us in the 1st half. We're not quite talented enough yet to overcome those.

3. Moss's Cramps - Moss was gashing the 'Noles in the first half, but Kyle wasn't sharp yet. Kyle was sharper in the second half, but Moss couldn'texplode like in the 1st half, thereby making us one dimensional.

4. Special Teams - Total embarrasment. 3 missed field goals and a blocked punt. 'Nuff said.

5. Kyle Wrihgt - He underthrew THREE potential touchdowns. Let the ball sail for the costly pick. Didn't throw the ball away at the end of the game.

Nevertheless:

1. Kyle Wright is the truth, or will be. Rocket arm, decent decision making, and 4.5 speed. In the second half, when he had time he was a monster.

2. Greg Olson is the next great tight end. Big, fast, great hands(eventually) and can find the zone.

3. Our defense is back to being dominant. We were in the backfield all day. My excitement is tempered because FSU had no passing game, but if they continue to improve they will dominate.

So, there you go Realist. Your boys finally got one. Congratulations. You'll hear no excuses from me. I'll just have to sit here and eat sh*t for three months until we perhaps meet again in Jax. You won the battle, but unless you fix your QB situation, we will win the war...

I can't really dissect the other games cause I didn't see 'em. But:

1. Love it that OU lost. They have been overratedfor the last 4 years.
2. Georgia looked great, but it is Boise State. I didn't think the Broncos could beat Georgia, so expectations should betempered.
3. G Tech won, but Kyle should have the kinks worked out by the time we play them.
4. I was sick when I saw the Notre Dame score. I want nothing more than for them to lose and lose big. Hopefully Michigan can put them in place. Read more!

College Football...yeah!!!

Da Realist:

of course, this is only the first week so take these thoughts with a grain of salt...

-- Waldini, there is still a quarterback controversy in knoxville, not good. barely beating uab at home, really not good. the teams that looked the mostimpressive tonight were georgia and notre dame. bothof these teams are on ut's schedule. whew! notre dame looks like a totally different team this year. that game in south bend nov 11 doesn't look like sucha slam dunk anymore. whoever came up with your schedule deserves to be shot. i'm not sure '04 usc or'01 miami could veer through this schedule unscathed. your team better be every bit as good as they say or we're talking peach bowl.

-- d, did you see georgia tech? looks like you may have your hands full with this team. reggie ball looks like he's ready to lead this year and their defense looks like the real thing. will kyle be poised and experienced enough to handle them?

-- oklahoma looked like a jv team today. we're not gonna have to worry about them being a championship contender this year. (1 down, 1 to go)

-- michigan is overrated...again. and they may just lose to notre dame next week in the big house

-- no way does texas waltz into buckeye stadium and beat ohio state next week.

Waldini:

It's still early in the season but I was shocked at how my boys, Oklahoma, Boise St, Va Tech, Notre Dame, Georgia looked (good or bad). Tenn has a week to get they mind right b4 they start a hard back to back on the road of Florida and LSU. Read more!

Rosen...Deranged Old Man?

Da Realist:

he responds to questions about his listing of the best teams ever.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/4827652

ok, it's official. this guy has a couple screws loose. he said last year's spurs would be ranked 12th on his list. they barely beat the PISTONS last year! please don't get me started on their inability to hit free throws (cluth or otherwise), tony parker's inconsistency, bruce bowen's offensive inept-ness...please. yet he doesn't recognize the 80 lakers, 83 sixers, 86 celtics, etc. like stephen a says... please!

Waldini:

I didnt agree with his assessment of the 83 Sixers, 86 Celtics or any ofthe 80s Lakers team. He makes it seem like a given that these teams wouldget run upon by other squads. And he's quick to elaborate on the flaws but almost completely ignores the positives.

Spurs team 12th best ever??? maybe this year's team may be depending upon how they beat opponents in the regular season AND playoffs. But to say that team is better than teams that didnt even make the list (like the 83Sixers) is retarded. I like Rosen but he's off on this one.... Read more!
