Coming Live And Direct

Waldini:

We're live at the Naval Base in Georgia and we're trying to find the Dallas Cowboys biggest fan, Gangsta D to get his thoughts on all the recent offseason activity. Chris Canty leaving, Keith Brooking coming, TO, Pac-Man, and Roy being released, what is current emotional state? There he is at his desk, mr Gangsta, what are your thoughts?

Gangsta D:

FUCK THE WORLD!!!

But seriously, Chris Canty isn't too big of a deal. Jay Ratliff is a better player, and we still have Tank. Keith Brooking? Meh. Roy was going to get cut, so I'm not sweating it. Jerry should've drafted Ed Reed anyway. TO? After the abomination that was last year, I wouldn't have cared if the whole team got traded. But to just release him and take a $10 million cap hit? After trading draft picks for the other
Roy Williams, how does this help the team? Looks to be another season of disappointment.

Waldini:

Um I wouldn't read this about Tank.

After Owens, Williams likely was the second divisive figure among Cowboys fans — especially after Dallas already got rid of Adam "Pacman" Jones and Tank Johnson.

That offense is still potent. I mean you still got Romo, Witten, the other Roy, Barber. That's a nice quartet to have. Defense, yea there may be some struggles but that O should keep them in the game. Hopefully no more circus with all those cuts

At least you sound more realistic than say K-dawg. I asked him to project the Redskins' record this year, fool says 9-7. I forgot to tell him that neither Haynesworth nor DeAngelo play QB.

Gangsta D:

Oh, well...boy that Jay Ratliff sure is great! lol

The running game is going to carry the squad. Barber, Choice, and a healthy "Cat" Jones. Hopefully Romo squares himself up and becomes more efficient. Although, I wouldn't mind adding Torry Holt. He can still ball. Read more!

Of Heations and Cowboys

Waldini:

I know the Heat are bad but damn I didn't think a team with Flash and Diesel would be 20 games under .500. I actually watched 5-10 mins of their last 2 nationally televised games and I was appalled at how empty the seats were. And these are games featuring marketable teams (Bulls, Cavs). Have the Heat really sunk this far? I know they are pinning hopes on the lottery now but I don't see anyone in college that can make an immediate impact to save this sinking ship. Flash is gone in '09. Mark
my words.....

Da Realist:

Shaq 4 titles
Kobe 3

That's the basis of all these heat emails.

Waldini:

The basis is that I hate seeing cities act like bandwagon fans which shit don't go right. This team just won a title 2 years ago and this is what they get in support. It's why I got annoyed in Houston when the Astros made it to the World Series.

The Cowboys may have down years but the fans still come out and support.

Da Realist:

Speaking of cowboys. I heard an interesting debate last yesterday. Do you think it's possible that this year's patriots are better than the 1995 barry switzer cowboys?

Waldini:

For the sake of giving Gangsta a heart attack this morning, I say yes.

Gangsta D:

They're better than the '95 Cowboys. But I don't know about the '92 Cowboys. If Deion played on the '92 squad, there would be no question. People forget how lethal that defense was. Ask Jim Kelly and the high flying Bills how good they were. But don't get me started.... Read more!

What The Damn?

Waldini:

Gangsta, the loss isn't even a week old and I see your team getting pillaged. Sparano in Miami? Garrett in B'more?? WTH is going on in Dallas? and Jerry's gonna stick with Wade?!!?!

Gangsta D:

I'm not in mourning over Sparano, even though the O-line played well this year (brain fart false starts in the playoff game notwithstanding). I would be more concerned over Garrett leaving.

1.) We'd have to find a new coordinator and who's available? Maybe Norm Chow. But he'd
install a new system and we were humming last year.

2.) I wanna see Garrett succeed and he's not ready to be a head coach yet. He gets away from the run a little too much in the 2nd half of games, and in the last two months or so of the season, we weren't making the 2nd half adjustments like we were making in the beginning. He needs, at least, another year of seasoning.

Wade didn't do anything to cost him his job. If Fasano catches that ball, if Romo doesn't overthrow TO, if Crayton catches that ball, we win. Preperation wasn't a problem. NY didn't
kill us, they just didn't kill themselves. We'll be fine. We just need a speedback and a reliable #3 WR and it's off to the races next year. Read more!

Is That Yo Chick?

Damn. Claudia Jordan was eye-fucking the shit out of Tony Romo at TO's Birthday Party last night. Jamie, you might need to have a word with Ms. Jordan. And Claudia, I don't think you want to feel the wrath of Simpson. Do we know for sure that Joe and OJ are not related?

Weekend Recap

Waldini:

College Football - Another week and another high ranking team (Boston College) goes down. Kansas continues to roll and despite handing Nebraska one of their worst beatdowns ever, the polls still have the Sooners ranked higher. ND's nightmare continues as Navy ends a looooong losing streak. LSU is hanging by a thread and they will get beat if they continue to screw around with inferior opponents. And what the hell is going on with Jamaal Charles??! Back to back games (well really 4Qs)
where he goes off and rallies his team.

Pro Football - The "new" game of century was actually pretty hype. I only caught the 2nd half but the 4Q was the only quarter that mattered anyway. I still think the Pats defense is weak. The Saints continue to climb back into the playoff chase, AP officially became my target for next year's fantasy draft, and people need to stop sleeping on the Browns' offense.

Pro Baseball - A week has gone by and folks are tripping on A-Rod's supposedly ill-timed opt out announcement. I've got a question...WHO CARES?? In an era marked by juicing (McGwire, Giambi, etc), ridiculous spending (Yankees, Red Sox), and escalating baseball prices, what difference does it make. Funny, someone said he was destroying the integrity of the game. Get yours A-rod, even though you will choke when it matters....and the Barry Bonds boycott watch is officially on

Pro Basketball - Too early to tell anything so I do not put a lot of stock in any of these games. I did check out the NBA free preview of League pass and that confirmed I don't want it :-). Kinda hard to get pumped up to watch the Heat-Bobcats. Oh did you peep Phil's clowning of Mike D'Antoni on Friday. Classic Zen Master

Gangsta D:

I put our loss squarely on Coker's shoulders, and I'm not one of those "Everything's Coker's Fault" guys. But he left us with only two scholarship QBs, one of whom can't COMPLETE A FUCKIN' PASS!!! If Kyle had started, we wouldv'e won going away. No doubt he would've made his share of bonehead plays, but he also would've complete MORE THAN ONE PASS!! But I'm not bitter at all.

Kansas, essentially, called Ryder and gave them directions to Bill callahan's house. I haven't seen a beatdown like that since Penny got burned by an iron. Charlie Weis is a massive fuckhead. Going for it on 4th and 8? Very smart idea, Chuck. LSU probably should've lost that game, but they find ways to pull it out. Nevertheless, I can't say they're the best team in the country anymore. Too many mistakes.

How 'Bout Them Cowboys. Nice critical beatdown of the Iggles. Do NOT sleep on the Cleveland Steamer. That offense is crucial. Defense sucks, but they can score on just about anyone. The Pats can be beaten. The Colts should've beaten them. They should've been up 14-0 in the 1st qtr, but a lack of playmakers on the outside killed momentum. I'm really starting to hate everything Boston.

Boy, the Bulls are 0-3 and are in an offensive funk. Looks like they could use some help, huh?

The Lakers look like an actual team. I watch with guarded optimism. I don't want to put too much heart into cheering just to see them start scrubbing out, or see Kobe get traded. As it stands now, they move the ball, rebound, play defense, and hustle. That's really all I can ask for. Read more!

Weekend Wrap Up

Waldini:

- Baseball - The Sox rally from a 3-1 deficit w/Games 6 and 7 being blowouts. They even get a positive ROI in Dice K in Game 7. Realist, you watch this sport more than I do. I only know a handful of Boston players and no one on Colorado's squad. Who's winning this thing?

- College Football - Tenn fulfills their losing prophecy (dbl digit blowout), South Carolina and S. Florida become the latest upset victims, & Miami-Florida put on one of the best games in their series in years. How sad is it when your Punter is your Chevy Scholarship Player of the Game (Fighting Irish)? And do you realize that the Ala-Tenn and Miami-FSU game was reduced to regional coverage??? And that Michigan-Illinios was on PRIME TIME Television?!?!?!

- Pro Football - I almost saw shades of Buffalo-Houston '92 in the Houston-Tennessee game yesterday. Thank goodness My Bironas made his record FG count when it mattered. NE continues to roll. They better pray nothing happens to Brady or Moss b/c if either is injured, it's a wrap. The AFC East's a joke, the NFC East and AFC South are legit and don't look now but the Bears are quietly winning games again

Shockingly, I havent kept up with MLS or NBA so I dont know what's poppin there....

Gangsta D:

Once the Sawx won Game 5, I knew it was a wrap. For some reason, it reminded me of an NBA playoff series from last year:) The only way I can talk about baseball is to relate it to NBA terms. The Rockies have won 21-22 and will have a 9 day layoff. Very similar to the Lakers of '01 who won 20 straight and had a long layoff before the Finals. If the Rockies can shake off the rust of game 1, they can win. 21-22 isn't a fluke.

Finally we get a Miami-FSU matchup with some scoring. I still can't believe Kirby actually outplayed someone in crunch time. When Kyle didn't come back for the 2nd half, I thought it was a wrap. But I gotta give him credit, he came through in the clutch. UF beat UK, but at least Tebow got hurt:) Yeah I know that was mean, but that's just how I'm living right now. Notre Dame is horrible. Weis should be fired. His offense is nonexistent and he's had FOUR of his own recruits transfer this year. Something is rotten in Denmark, and it closely resembles Tweedle Dee.

My 'Boys were uninspired vs the Vikings, but at least we held Peterson in check. The defense can shut down anyone except for Tom Brady, apparently. The Dolphins and Rams may combine for 25+ losses. That's crazy. I'm surprised no coach has been fired yet, but I bet there are several before Thanksgiving.

Da Realist:

Bobby must go.

Gangsta D:

Very concise wrap up of the weekend Bitterman:) But you and I know that he isn't going anywhere. My question is how bad does it get? He woke up to a "For Sale" sign in his front yard. How nasty will the unrest get?

Da Realist:

He's going nowhere. FSU is living in the past. We're the new Alabama Crimson Tide. What's scary is...even if he retires, his fingerprints will still be all over the program. He wants to be a deity at FSU. He just doesn't have it anymore.

In fact, his "system" has always been predicated on having superior athletes. It's not that complicated. When he matches up with a team of comparable talent (i.e. miami), he loses the closely fought games. Think about it...FSU usually wins the games where there is no doubt we are the better team. That's why most of our victories over Miami are blowouts. Miami usually wins the games where they are decided favorites and also the games where we are evenly matched. Generally speaking.

Saturday's game hurt, but it didn't hurt. Let's just say I had a feeling we would cough up the game, but to lose to a Miami team that didn't even play that well...that part did sting a little bit. Read more!

Weekend Wrap Up

Waldini:

College Football - 'SC loses at home to a backup QB and a team favored to lose by 41pts, Clemson starts it's mid-season meltdown earlier than usual, Miles bucks his normal trend and doesnt choke a big game, ND fans finally cut the noose from the ceiling, and Realist and my teams' return to the top 25. This season has been absolutely crazy.....

Pro Football - My Titans continue to surprise despite a HORRIBLE offensive performance, the Bears bring Old Man Favre back to Earth, the Chargers finally play like a team that is supposed to be a SB contender, the Colts continue to roll with 5 starters out, and the Pats look like they are going to continue to whup people's a$$es.

MLB - 3 of the 4 divisionals are over. As Kenny Smith would say the Cubs, Phillies, and Angels are all going fishin :-). And the Yanks were fortunate enough to win Game 4. You peep George's comments about Torre. Pretty cold blooded....Any way, who would believe two expansion teams (Rockies, Diamondbacks) would be playing for the right to advance to the World Series?

(Update: Yanks are officially yanking pole as well)

NASCAR - Jeff Gordon aka Speed Racer won in Talledega over the wknd, giving him the the Nextel Cup lead. Can he make it 6 victories? Do you cats even care :-)?

Hockey - Again do you care :-)? the season did kick off last Thursday

Gangsta D:

I swear I thought I was watching a repeat of the Miami-UNC game last night. Only thing, Romo threw 5 picks instead of Kyle Wright's 4. My God were those brutal games. Last night, I couldn't sleep for almost two hours after the game ended. The Pats are a far better team, and we better tighten a whole bunch of ish up by Sunday.

Poor Joe Torre. Just couldn't win that FIFTH World Series for King George. Think there aren't about 10 GMs finishing off "You're fired" memos right now?

Neither one of us is Kenya, so no we don't care about NASCAR.

Here about Garnet totally ignoring the T-Wolves during a practice session over the weekend? Damn that's cold. The Basketball Gods may frown on the Big Ticket. Read more!

Weekend Wrap Up

Waldini:

College Football - No need since we touched on that yesterday :-)

Pro Football - Btw the injuries and the upsets, my fantasy teams took a beating. What is wrong with the vaunted Bears defense? The same for the Ravens? Why isnt anyone praising Crennel like they do Weis since his team is playing way over its shoulders? Are the Steelers now pretender for losing to 'Zona? Are the Chargers back on track? So many questions and a looooonng way to go in the season.

Boxing - I actually watched the Pavlik-Taylor fight and shocked to see Taylor get knocked out. Especially since he beat fast hard hitters like Hopkins and Wright. But everyone usually has some kryptonite opponent in boxing and Taylor just met his. I'm ready for the Mayweather-Hatton countdown.

Soccer - No Hope Solo must have got the "Know your Role, shut your mouth" Speech b/c she was canned for the 3rd place match against Norway. Serves her right and that ridiculous myspace post made her look even more stupid. How can your words be taking out of context when they didnt need to edit your remarks?!?!

Baseball - Ok, ok you got me. I have been paying attention to the playoff chase. Padres @ Rockies 2nite to decide who gets the final spot in the NL and a trip to Philly. Good job Mets for melting down. Does Chicago forgive Bartman now :-). Looking at those matchups, they have just of good as a chance as anyone to go to the WS.

Golf - President's Cup. Did anyone watch? And what is the difference btw this and Ryder Cup? Or did the PC replace the RC? I'm confused :-)

So much happening in the Sports World......

Gangsta D:

Tony Romo is God. No debates. No arguments.

Cleveland should probably be 3-1. But everyone considers it flukey that they're at .500. I'm torn, because I like Cleveland. But the Cowboys have their 1st round draft pick and I've been expecting that to be in the top 5.

Do people realize that the Raiders can win the AFC West? The Chargers appear to be done. The Chiefs and Broncos aren't world beaters. If Daunte leads them to the playoffs, do we have a Brees/Rivers situation again?

The Mets actually pulled off one of the biggest choke jobs in history. Their fans should at least be happy about that. If you're gonna scrub out, might as well make history doing it.

Waldini:

Cowboys, Cowboys, Cowboys..oh how Gangsta would die in heaven if he were here. Oh the fever has definitely spread throughout the city. Everywhere you, everywhere you look.

Gangsta D:

It's Romo's world. We're all just houseguests. There's still time to climb aboard that bandwagon. But hurry up, cause after we beat the Pats, there will be no more vacancies:)

S(h)ittin' On Top Of The World

Waldini:

(1) Sat, my Vols got taken to behind the woodshed and got a Cobra Kai No Mercy beatdown. Completely demoralizing considering they just laid down in the 2nd half. Is Tebow really that good? Prbly wont find out until they play LSU. But he looked damn good on Sat.

(2) Sun, my Titans lose a heartbreaker at home. They were hanging in there but made a TON of mistakes at the end. Cant be dropping passes (Bobby Jones) when the game is on the line and you're driving.

(3) The ultimate in sports downer. I got temporarily banned from having TC watch my favorite teams play b/c I was dropping f-bombs left and right on Sat. I couldnt help it, it's hereditary. My mom used to "Shit Sean oops I mean Shoot Sean" it seemed like everytime I really pissed
her off. I couldnt help, Fulmer, Ainge, Cutcliffe, etc made so fucking er I mean friggin mad on Sat. And then on Sun, I had the boy in his Titans onesie. I'm on the phone talking to Ty Bonner, I look over in the chair to check on Tyler and what do I see on the side of his leg. One of
the nastiest stools Mother nature had produced. This lil sucka decided his diaper wasnt big enough for the funk in his trunk. The sad part was I was more made he jacked up my Titans joint more than having to spend an hr cleaning him up, the chair, and his mess :-0

I saw other things but it didnt matter. I'm still down from the wknd....

Gangsta D:

I that's TC's way of saying you can't force him to be a Titans fan. F**k yo team!!

The thing with Tebow is this, no one forces him to read the defense. He just sits in the pocket and throws to an open space. I didn't see the whole game, but it didn't look like UT was changing up their defensive alignment too much. You have to show blitz and back off, blitz out of base personnell, disguise coverages. If you play him straight up, all he has to do is throw the ball up to one of his multiple 4.3 guys. Unfortunately, he's moved into the Heisman conversation. God, I'm gonna be nauseous.

The Canes are pretty average this year. That's OK, because we sucked last year. At least we're making some strides on offense. Kyle threw for over 200 yards, including a 80 yard bomb that almost stopped my heart. Has to be the first deep past he's completed in two years. We play Texas A&M on Thursday, and if we win we should get some Top 25 votes. Yes, I'm begging for Top 25 votes. But brighter days are ahead.

The Cowboys are the class of the NFC. Can we all agree on that? The defense is horrible, but NOBODY is gonna stop the offense. We weren't even on our game yesterday and still put up 37. I can't wait until we play the Pats in October. Hopefully, both teams will be undefeated. That may rival UF-LSU as the game of the year. OK, maybe not. But it will be big.

Weekend Wrap Up

(Yeah the pic has nothing to do with sports, but for some reason I find it hilarious that George Lucas is banging a black chick. Insert lightsaber joke here____)

Waldini:

1. Football - Both my Tenn teams won so I'm happy this week. Granted one struggled to beat a patsy and the other got lucky in an upset, it still registers as a W. Plus ND continues to lose, a lot of so called cupcakes are winning at the big boys' home (I see you S. Fla) and we have the makings of a crazy college football season. Suicide watch is officially on in Ann Arbor

2. Tennis - Venus went down, but not without a fight. She played beautifully on occasion, then made some mental errors that boggled the mine. And of course TMF just inched 2 steps closer to immortality. I'm hoping he ties Pretty Pete with his first French Open title in '08

3. Basketball - Zen Master gets inducted over the wknd and takes time to publicly clown his employer. Anybody who can sleep with his boss' daughter AND clown him in public w/o getting fired, gets my vote for pimp of the year. Hate hate hate

4. Soccer - I know you trics dont care but so what?? Freddy Adu shuns MLS to play overseas but finds time to lead the US Under 17 squad in world cup play. He's a beast and he just needs a hug to feel loved in the states

Just my thoughts, just my thoughts

Gangsta D:

Obviously, I was just slightly off in my Miami-OU prediction. Needless to say, I was humbled. We just couldn't tackle, couldn't pressure the QB, and looked like we were running in quicksand. But I LOVED the fake FG. Coker wouldn't have the balls to do that down 21-3 on the road. We'll be all right...if Kyle starts. When he came in the game, a calm came over me. He wasn't spetacular, but he moved the team. He looked comfortable in the pocket, and made good decisions. He HAS to start the rest of the year. He gives us the best chance.

The Cowboys offense is ridiculous. The Cowboy defense is also ridiculous, but for different reasons. TO, Romo, and Witten are gonna have BEASTLY years if they continue to pick up the defense's slack.

Too bad Justine Henin isn't cute. Maybe she would take away some of Sharapova's money. Since, you know, she's 10 times the player.

Da Realist:

Tennis -- "Venus went down, but not without a fight"

she still lost in straight sets. i think we all need to recognize justine henin. the girl has 7 titles (one more than venus, one less than serena). she beat serena 3 straight times in 3 different majors -- all played on different surfaces. wimbledon and the us open are her two weaker surfaces, yet she still managed to beat both williams sisters (serena more than once). she won both the french and the us open without dropping a set. she is undisputedly the best women's player right now. it's no longer about venus playing hard or serena playing hurt. justine just kicked their asses, no excuses.

oh, and federer? 10 straight grand slam finals appearances, 3 straight years where he won 3 slams. the most complete player the game has ever seen. EVER.

Football -- we're horrible this year. we'll be lucky to win 6. in fact, if we win 6 games with our schedule i'll dance naked on my balcony. nothing else matters to me right now.

Basketball -- YAWN

Can We Get A Little Reverence Here?

I just found this video of Verne Lundquist and Dan Fouts being quite jovial during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner at Texas Stadium. According to the person who posted the video, this was taken from the raw feed and wasn't meant for broadcasting. However, thanks to the interwebs, this video can be shown and made fun of ad nauseum.

Verne and Dan don't do anything too egregious during the playing, but they're far from reverent. At any rate, I love Verne's laughing at the beginning of the clip. It sounds like some chick is giving him the best blow job of his 70 some odd years. "Uh oh! My goodness! Ha! Ha!" Bout as classic as it gets.

The clip is a year old, so if you've already seen it that's too bad. The sounds of Verne Lundquist possibly getting a hummer in the booth before a game should be replayed as often as possible.

Kharma Initiative

Gangsta D:

At some point in their respective seasons, all my teams have sucked...and sucked very hard. The U lost four in a row and had to play on the Smurf Turf. The 'Boys lost four out of their last five and gagged in Seattle. The Lakers have lost 6 in a row, while being swept by Charlotte and Cleveland. Is this God punishing me for all the sh*t I've talked for the past 15 years? At least Georgetown is playing well right now, but even they sucked in the beginning of the year. Is there even a faint glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel? Maybe we get Kwame, Luke, and Vlad healthy for a playoff run. But maybe we're out of the playoffs by the time that happens. Dallas has a new coaching staff. Will TR-808 regain the form he had in the middle of the season or will he revert? Will the defense STOP SOMEBODY PLEASE!?! Can Randy Shannon and Patrick Nix light a fire under Kyle Wright? Will we have receivers who can run AND seperate from defenders? These are uncertain times for me. I feel cold and alone...

Da Realist:

WHAT? the lakers lost to portland last night???

I may have to give up my sports fan card if i keep missing these moments. they were up 6 in the 3rd when i decided to hang it up and go to bed, thinking there is no way they lose to portland at home.

Gangsta D:

They were down 104-96 with 1:40 to go, so I assume they lost. Unless Kobe went wild with threes...

Waldini:

Naw they lost 112-108. I saw the score this morning and just threw my hands up. Injuries is one thing but they play NO defense. They get Boston at home on Friday. They lose that one, then I'm going into hiding....

Don't sweat it D, it just aint your yr...Remember I endured the Vols going 5-7 (including a home loss to Vandy), G'town going to the NIT, Titans going 4-12, and the Lakers not qualifying for the playoffs. Truss, I figured the only way my teams could go is up. Vols rebounded this yr (although choked against PSU), G'town has reeled off 11 straight (Big game at home against Pitt on Sat), Titans made a run but finished better than expected and the Lakers were doing good until 2007 came....

Never apologize for talking shit :-). It's a great release exercise and there's nothing better than irritating, annoying, and pissing off someone who's doing the same thing to you...
