How Do You Spell Excommunicated? N-u-k-e-e-s-e

Waldini:

And I thought it would be Brown not Richardson who would be the off the field distraction.

Kiffin says wide receiver Nu'Keese Richardson and defensive back Mike Edwards have been permanently dismissed from the football team.
Guess Lane said, new day, new era, no toleration. No chicken shit I'm suspend you a half or a game against a weak opponent. Your ass is just gone. And that's crazy considering Nu'Keese had been their best receiver.

Gangsta D:

He had to do it. He already has little credibility and respect in the conference. If he let it ride, he would've been in the deep deep shits. The funny thing is how Miami fans were pissed at Shannon for not recruiting him last year. Sometimes you gotta look past the 4.3 time:)

Waldini:

Yea like check his backpack to see if he's carrying a pellet gun...

It is really hard to have credibility in a conference with Houston Nutt, Nick Satan, Urban Liar, and the Ole Daggum (Humbled) ball coach. But it took years for them to get that "respectability". I see what you're saying Kiffin needs to do some more violating, which considering his track record, we prbly in for a treat come next Spring

"Kiffin picks up recruiting violation number 4080 by showing up at the SEC title game with two local hs players"

Gangsta D:

The funniest thing of the weekend, which in retrospect shouldn't be funny but it was to me cause I'm an idiot, was the back of the Gamecock jerseys. Honor? Integrity? In the SEC? Not even Spurrier could look at that shit with a straight face:)

Who Ya Got?!?!

UF-UGA

Waldini - I guess that talk about Tebow being the greatest of all time in college football have died down. Funny what happens when you don't have playmakers around you. But even without the Harvins of the world, they are still the class of the SEC East. So the largest cocktail party will be doing the Gator chomp post game. GATORS

Gangsta D - If the Dawgs' D actually had a pulse, I would feel more confident in a UGA win. Nevertheless, it's funny how Tebow gets all the credit when the offense is rolling, but when it struggles it's "Well the line play is poor, he doesn't have down field threat, the play calling is lackluster." Or maybe he's not the GOD people made him out to be. Anyway, I hope GA wins just to shut up the douchebag Gator fans I have to deal with. But, I'm going with Florida.

Da Realist - Florida

USC-Oregon

Waldini - Interesting game. Oregon after the embarrassing loss and post game fiasco to Boise St, have quietly moved up the rankings. Barkley's not the 2nd coming of say Matt Leinart but honestly he doesn't have to be (although I think he will end up being better). Game's in Autzen. Call me crazy, but I believe "the DUCKS will be flying VERNE ". Sorry bad imitation of Bill Raftery. DUCKS

Gangsta D - Freshman QB. Autzen Stadium. Real good Oregon team. I think the Ducks do it.

Da Realist - USC

Texas-OK St

Waldini - Easy one for me. No Dez Bryant + surprisingly good Texas D = a L for the Cowboys. LONGHORNS

Gangsta D - McCoy goes off. Okie St keeps it close for three quarters before Sergio Kindle removes Zach Robinson's spleen in the 4th.

Da Realist - Texas

Miami-Wake Forest

Waldini - I think Harris rebounds nicely in this one. 'CANES

Gangsta D - "Jacory's only a sophomore. Jacory's only a sophomore. Jacory's only a sophomore." Which means, he's gonna make some mistakes. Hopefully, he doesn't make 4 of them again this week. Miami wins a closer than needs to be game. This team is still a year away, but damn I wish that year would hurry up and get here.

Da Realist - Miami

Tenn-S Cack

Waldini - Weird feeling about my boys. I've said repeatedly the D and running game are straight. It's the QB play that's killed them. Actually shoulda beat Alabama last week but you know how I feel about woulda coulda shoulda. The 'Cocks should win because their O is better. But I'm still salty at one of my boys, a former SC alumni, for having the nerve to debate why Obama didn't deserve the Nobel Peace prize and in the process couldn't spell to save his ass. Just because I'm hating....VOLS

Gangsta D - No fucking idea. Aren't they basically the same team? Tough stingy defenses with strong running games and erratic QBs. Coin flip goes to...........S. Cack, just because Kiffin is trying to impede on our recruiting efforts. They need another couple of losses to make recruits think twice.

Da Realist - Tennessee

Who You Got?

Da Realist:

How is FSU ranked? Cause they beat BYU??? Everybody is still drinking the Bobby Bowden kool-aid. Wow.

G Tech vs UNC

Da Realist: I'm going against the grain and pick UNC. Don't know much about UNC but GTech hasn't impressed me.

Gangsta D: I'm not feeling the Heels. They don't seem to have that "It" factor, but people are predicting damage from them this year. I don't see it. I think Tech has licked their wounds and will have that triple option working. I got the Bees.

Waldini: YELLOW JACKETS

Texas Tech vs Houston

Da Realist: Texas Tech because I didn't even know Houston still played football. They're RANKED? What is this? 1989?

Gangsta D: Texas Tech. Only because Mike Leach is insane and Tyler Potts has the best moustache in football.

Waldini: COUGARS

Cal vs Oregon

Da Realist: Cal. And it won't be close.

Gangsta D: Jahvid Best is a problem. If Cal keeps feeding him the ball, Oregon won't get within 10 points.

Waldini: GOLDEN BEARS

Bama vs Arkansas

Da Realist: Bama is for real. Told y'all Nick Saban makes a difference. Bama.

Gangsta D: Ryan Mallet is the motherfucking truth. I've liked him since his freshman year at Michigan. He's definitely got that "It" factor. I wanna go against the grain and pick the Hogs, but Bama's defense is an actual defense as opposed to what UGA throws out there. And, their offense is coming around. Roll Tide.

Waldini: CRIMSON TIDE

Miami vs V Tech

Da Realist: I think people need to slow down with Miami. They're still young... I don't believe they are ready to challenge the big boys yet but they'll beat V Tech the same way they always do -- force them to throw the ball.

Gangsta D: Come on. You don't need any analysis. Black Jesus (Jacory) will lead us to the Promise Land.

Waldini: 'CANES

COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!!!! The Commission Pick 'Em Returns

Bama vs Virginia Tech

Da Realist - I'm going with Bama in the GA Dome

Gangsta D - I just don't think Tyrod Taylor has that "It" factor that everyone thinks he does. Very inconsistent. With Evans going down with a knee injury, the Hokies will have to rely on Taylor along with inexperienced RBs. The defense will be stout, but Nick Saban is the Devil or at least a close friend of the Devil and he won't allow the Tide to lose this game. Besides, the GA dome has been good to him. Bama

Waldini - I would have easily said Hokies two weeks ago but then they lost Evans, their starting RB for the season and that changes everything. Bama's lost a lot of offensive power but their D returns like 8 or 9 starters. Same for the Hokies. But the game's in ATL which is a home game for Alabama. No sneaking up on teams like they did to Clemson last year. BUT they will get the same result. ALABAMA

Okie St vs UGA

Da Realist - Gimme Georgia

Gangsta D - Tough one. Dez Bryant is a mutha. But the Cowboys aren't very good against ranked BCS teams historically. Richt is a beast on the road, but he's breaking in a new starting backfield. Bill Young will blitz the shit out of Joe Cox, and how he handles that will determine how well the game goes. Remember, last year he had Miami bitch slapping Tebow for 3 quarters. Flip of coin goes to the Cowboys...cause Mike Gundy is a man damn it!

Waldini - The game's in whatever city the Cowboys play in (don't know, don't care LOL). They got most of the entire offense returning. You know the one that was ringing up points like a pinball machine. Georgia's lost Stafford and Moreno.Yet they are ranked #13. You have to love preseason polls. OKLAHOMA ST

Oregon vs Boise St

Da Realist - Boise

Gangsta D - I have no idea about this one. Chip Kelly takes over for Belloti. Boise is crucial at home, even though they haven't played any of note. Boise beat the Ducks last year, so they'll be out for revenge. But...you can't beat the Broncos on the Smurf. Boise wins and starts their trek towards the BCS title game (shudder).

Waldini - Ah that crappy a$ blue turf. Ah well, The Ducks have to get over that plus the beating they took at home to the Broncos last year. New coach for the Ducks but they got their QB and one of their top RBs returning. Broncos still have Peterson running the show and also their top QB returning. But only 12 starters on both sides of the ball return. In Bill Raftery voice "Oh Vern, the Ducks are FLLLLYIIIINNNG." OREGON

Mizzou vs Illinois

Da Realist - Illinois

Gangsta D - How did I know that Waldini would have something to say about this? Can the Tigers replace Maclin and Daniel? Will Juice Williams complete over 50% of his passes? Will Zook straight choke Juice the fuck out if he doesn't? These are the important questions. This is why this game was included. Illini hangs a number on the Tigers.

Waldini - How did this game get on here? What are you a Big 12 lover :-)? Zook. Zook. Zook. Even though I know he can't coach. But Mizzou lost Chase Daniel and Jeremy Maclin. I hear their backup QB was highly rated coming out of high school. I'm not taking that chance. ILLINOIS

FSU vs The U

Da Realist - FSU

Gangsta D - It's time. It's moment time. The past 5 seasons have sucked ass through a straw. But now, it's time for a mighty hurricane to begin swirling those winds in the Atlantic. Now is the time for the swagger to return. Now is the time to bury Bobby Bowden under the field that bears his name. You know who I got.

Waldini - Did you know this game is not even sold out yet. My how this once super rivalry has fallen. The U can't keep a QB to save its' life and Free Shoes Coach is running on life support. Two uses of the word life in one sentence. I made a funny, dog! Oh yea who wins, I guess FSU since it's at home. FLORIDA ST.

You Got Some Brass, Son!

Waldini:

Why oh why?

Kiffin's profiles on the two social media Web sites Tuesday briefly read: "I was so excited to hear that J.C. Copeland committed to play for the Vols today!"

Copeland is a junior at Troup County High School in LaGrange, Ga.

Athletic director Mike Hamilton told The Knoxville News Sentinel an assistant posted the comments on the Web sites without consulting the athletic department's compliance officials. Hamilton was unavailable for comment Wednesday morning.

Gangsta D:

God, I love this guy. The entertainment factor is through the roof. I can't wait for September!!!!

Waldini:

He is like Spurrier when he first joined the SEC in the 90s. Didn't know when to shut the hell up. Of course Ole Ball Coach did get results in the 90s too. You know I'm soo hoping all of Kiffin's shenanigans do not come to bite him back in the ass...

Gangsta D:

Yeah but Spurrier won a conference title at Duke. Kiffin just has a hot wife:)

Waldini:

He won recruiting battles at USC for top talent (Waldini really is digging for stuff LOL)

Gangsta D:

OK. Go ahead and hang your hat on that one... Read more!

Get 'Em Lane!

Waldini:

What the hell are you doing Lane?

"I'm gonna turn Florida in right here in front of you," Kiffin said, according to WVLT-TV. "While Nu'Keese was on campus, his phone kept ringing. One of the coaches says, 'who's that?' And he said, 'Urban Meyer.' "...

Kiffin told the crowd, "I love the fact that Urban had to cheat and still didn't get him."
Gangsta D:

How to make friends and influence people:) Lane is my new hero.

Waldini:

He had to have known he was publicly going to get reprimanded.

Gangsta D:

Of course. He's not stupid. He's gotta show potential recruits that he has no fear of Florida. Swagger goes a long way.

Waldini:

Afraid of Florida, or any school for that matter, that I know he and Pops Kiffin are not. But don't show yo ass yet until you do something on the field.

Gangsta D:

Fair point. But it's the SEC. If cats aren't fighting, or calling people out their names, or running up the score it just wouldn't be the same.

Waldini:

Haha true. But until Tenn is among the upper echelon of the SEC, just quietly do you, beat your opponents, and then come out swinging.

Lord knows how much shit I was talking to Tyrone when Tenn FINALLY beat Florida in '98 ('What'chu gotta say about Citrus and UT now trick). But that was AFTER. Read more!

How do you spell WTF? B-C-S

Waldini:

I looked at the BCS matchups and forgive me if I'm not overly excited

Texas vs Ohio St - yawn
USC vs Penn St - more yawn
Virginia Tech vs Cinn - bigger yawn
Alabama vs Utah - why....
Oklahoma vs Florida - possibly good, depends if Harvin is healthy

I know the Rose bowl still has the Pac 10/Big 10 tie in for at least one more year. I'll be happy when that's over so I can see some more interesting matchups. Secretly I was kinda hoping Oregon St won the Pac 10, Boise St got a BCS invitation and Texas Tech replaced one of the teams in the non title games. Oh well

Gangsta D:

Why did tOSU get in over Texas Tech?

Waldini:

Dollars. Fiesta believes the tOSU fan base will bring more folks to the game than Texas Tech. Rubbish

Da Realist:

I like 3 of the major bowls -- fiesta, rose and the bcs championship bowl. (well, maybe i should say i'm ok with the matchups. i personally don't think oklahoma has a shot in hell of beating florida but one can still dream).

i don't want to ever see texas tech again. i know that's not fair, but i just don't care to see them. all the other schools whining and crying...i don't care. the bcs is about the big name schools and i'm ok with that. them's the rules. if texas tech wanted to be there so bad they shouldn't have lost by 40 to oklahoma.

"Fuck a fair one, i get mines the fast way"

Gangsta D:

Arizona's two states away from Texas?!? Now for some reason football fans in Texas aren't rabid enough to travel two states to see their team play? I used to support the BCS, but they really are annoying me:)

Da Realist:

texas vs osu is just a sexier matchup. it's not just about who shows up at the game, but who watches on tv. more people would watch texas slaughter ohio state than texas slaughter texas tech (because there is no way tt would beat texas again)

Gangsta D:

How can a slaughter be sexy? Lol

Da Realist:

Lol

Waldini:

How about Texas - Alabama in the Fiesta and Texas Tech - Utah in the Sugar?

Da Realist:

who is utah? when did they get a football team?

and besides...do you really think the sugar would let alabama go anywhere? for what? to host a game between the mormons and some dusty no-name team from texas? please.

Waldini:

I'm trying to do the right thang man ;-). tOSU has 2 losses. Texas Tech, Utah, & Boise are all ranked higher in the BCS standings and have better records. What's the point of playing if the best you can do is get to the Cotton Bowl or Idontgiveafuck bowl because the sponsors are worried about money. If that's the case then why is VT-UCinn even happening?? that's a definite ratings killer....

Da Realist:

it's not about fair or right. beyond the bcs championship game, the bcs doesn't hide it's intentions at all. it's all about popularity at that point. and again, i'm ok with that. and most fans are too if you look at viewership numbers. nobody watches texas tech except texas tech fans. look at how empty the acc championship was this past weekend. most fans talk a good game but the numbers really show what we want to watch. and most fans watch big name schools with history. alabama, texas, usc, ohio state, michigan and yes, notre dame among a few other schools.

utah who?

Gangsta D:

Yeah, but how do we know Utah won't become the next Miami? Miami has really on been relevant the last 28-30 years. They were Utah at one point. This is Utah's 2nd BCS game in 5 years. How do we know they won't turn into a traditional power? Answer that one, HAMMER?!? lol

Da Realist:

When they turn into Miami, then we'll watch. Good luck with that. Miami was able to capitalize on the perfect storm (excuse the pun) -- good...no GREAT weather, GREAT recruiting and a weak ass conference for years.

Utah has...mountains.

Gangsta D:

And people with freakishly large teeth...

Who You Got?!?

Miami - G Tech

Waldini: Another week of the wacky ACC stuff. CANES on the road. I picked GT enough and they have continually let me down.

Gangsta D: Miami

Realist: GT

FSU - Maryland

Waldini: Maryland drives you crazy b/c look like doggie poo one week and BCS busters the next. FSU has been more consistent and they have not let me down recently when I choose them. Only b/c they are at home. TERRAPINS

Gangsta D: FSU

Realist: FSU

Vandy - UT

Waldini: Why D why, for the love of God why? Vandy is bowl eligible. Tenn is wrapping up its worst season since I became a fan in the early 90s. (sniff) this hurts....COMMODORES

Mich St. - Penn St.

Waldini: Blair Thomas isn't walking through that door. Larry Johnson isn't walking through that door. Kijana Carter isn't walking through that door. But Evan Royster damn sure is. And he doesn't care if Ringer is right behind him. PENN ST's going to the Rose Bowl with this win.

Who You Got?!?

Miami vs Va Tech

Waldini: Another one of those wacky ACC matchups. CANES

Gangsta D: Miami has the most raw talent in the ACC. Talent doesn't always come through in a pinch. Against the Hokies, it will. I'm hoping for a big win, but I'll take a squeaker.

Realist: Miami

UF vs S. Cack

Waldini: FLORIDA. No explanation besides see games against LSU, Georgia

Gangsta D: The Cocks have a strong defense. I hate Florida. UPSET ALERT!!! I think the Ole Ball coach gets it done. I have no facts to support this, just an overwhelming desire to see Florida fail.

Realist: SCarolina

UT vs KU

Waldini: Reesing has been just ok this yr. McCoy has been off the charts this year. So what if the game's being played in Lawrence. TEXAS

Gangsta D: The Jayhawks can put up points, but the Horns will be too tough.

Realist: Texas

BC vs FSU

Waldini: I'm going to continue to keep riding the Tallahassee Train. FLORIDA ST

Gangsta D: FSU looks to be legit this year. BC just blanked ND, but that doesn't really mean anything. Noles in a tough one.

Realist: FSU

UNC vs Maryland

Waldini: see Miam-Vtech comments. MARYLAND

Gangsta D: I need Maryland to win in order for the Canes to have a shot at Tampa, so there you go.

Realist: NCarolina

UK-Vandy

Waldini: Wow, I never thought in my short Commission years, this game would be on here as part of the pick 'em. You sure this isn't for basketball or baseball :-). KENTUCKY

Gangsta D: Yes, UK-Vandy was a curious choice. What did you want? Bama-Miss St?
The Cats gave UGA all they could handle last week, so I'm going with Kentucky.

Realist: Kentucky Read more!

Insane Weekend In College Football

Waldini:

- Man, I told ya'll I was converted to watch Big 12 games this season after the Red River shootout and last night didn't disappoint. Yep, I spurned my own boys (who embarrassed themselves as usual) to watch the classic in Lubbock. Harrell put 400 plus on dem Horns and that Crabtree 4Q catch, body control, and game winning TD was pure hotness. Do I think Texas Tech will run the table? hell naw, they losing to OU in 2 weeks.

- Speaking of Smokey, hmm, 4 conference losses versus 1 conference win with 3 conference games left to play. They either will finish last or next to last in the SEC East. Still think I should support Phil in his dark days. Me neither....

- The ACC is quietly putting on an interesting battle week in and week out. Miami upsets the suddenly mighty Cavs on the road, Clemson shocks BC on the road, GT holds off the surging 'Noles, and Maryland keeps rolling. They have 4 teams in the top 25 right now and both divisions are far from being decided.

- Georgia oh Georgia. Everytime, I fall for the koolaid (see Quincy Carter in the late 90s), you do your best to make me look stupid. Yesterday was no exception. People said the offensive line was the major weakness. Hell naw, look like that defense may have been overexaggerated.

- Speaking of D, I told you that Longhorns D wasn't that good. Good defenses don't repeatedly give up 30 plus pts to teams. They shut 'em down.

- Don't sleep but Boise St and Utah are both undefeated and making noise. Will we have two party crashers this year?

Gangsta D:

The 'Canes are gonna be a problem next year. I'm glad people have got their shots in the last couple years, cause a storm is brewing in South FL. Read more!

Who Ya Got?!?

KU - OK

Waldini: Reesing's decent but he's not McCoy. Bradford and friends bounce back. SOONERS

Gangsta D: Hmm...I don't know about this one. Kansas is pretty good. OU HAS to have a hangover from last week. I doubt they come out with guns blazing. If they start slow, the Jayhawks may pounce. Hmm...that being said, I'll go with the Sooners.

Realist: OU

Mizzou - UT

Waldini: Do the Longhorns have a letdown after slaying the beast last week? Macklin and Daniels are a lethal combo but unless one of them's playing both ways, that horrible defense will continue to get exposed. LONGHORNS

Gangsta D: Chase gets back in the Heisman race by dismantling the Longhorns. Book it.

Realist: Texas

UGA - Vandy

Waldini: Vandy continues to shock me by making it on Gangsta's weekly pick 'em list. But this is another loss that will soon keep them off. BULLDAWGS

Gangsta D: Vandy is actually good this year, so yeah they get in the picks. Two years ago they shocked the Dawgs at home and probably should've beaten them last year. UGA has too much talent, but this one goes to the wire again.

Realist: Georgia

Baylor - OK St

Waldini: Pimp I know Baylor is doing its' best Vandy impersonation, winning under the radar and what not. But have you seen that Cowboys offense???? COWBOYS

Gangsta D: Baylor's QB is the truth. Dude is just nasty. Nevertheless Mike Gundy is a man. Cowboys by double digits.

Realist: OK State

Clemson - G Tech

Waldini: Bowden's fired, Harper and his daddy call Tommy out, and the rest of the team showed mixed emotions. Yep Hollywood drama in tiny Clemson SC. Oh yea CJ Spiller is out for the game. YELLOW JACKETS

Gangsta D: The Ramblin Wreck has just been waiting in the weeds. They haven't got much pub, but they seem to be pretty good. Clemson should be in the Top 5, which is why Tommy has gone fishing. I got Tech.

Realist: Georgia Tech

Mich St - tOSU

Waldini: This is the breakout game Javon Ringer needs to be considered as a legit Heisman candidate. Terrelle Smith er I mean Troy Pryor eh ah hell you know the Buckeyes QB continues to amaze but they still struggle to beat lower teams. I picked against them against Wisconsin, I'm picking against them again here. SPARTANS

Gangsta D: Javon Ringer is a problem. Spartans end their annual mid-season collapse streak.

The Wacky World Of College Football

Waldini:

- The upset tour continues w/Oklahoma, Missouri, LSU, Vanderbilt, and Michigan being the latest victims.

- SEC - In yrs past, a day of UGA-UT, LSU-UF, ARK-AUB would be must see football. But those games were average and not even the best. That went to S Cack-UK and Vandy-MSU. Bizarre indeed...

- Phil Fulmer should be VERY worried, Tommy Tuberville's play still didn't inspire his boys to win, and Rich Rodriguez needs HELP

- Why did the commentators pump up Texas' defense? They kept saying the defense is committed this year, they were great in the OU game etc. Let's clear up some misconception, any defense that gives up 35 points is not great. They made stops when they needed them but great and defense don't add up to Texas.

- Speaking of Big 12, I am officially converted for this season to watch their games. Btwn the OU-UT game and the OSU-Mizzou game, they had game changers. It's a sad day when a SEC homer like me prefers to watch another conference's games

- Can Javon Ringer get some love? Cat is killing folks in the not so mighty Big Ten

- Again, I tell you that Penn St RB is the truth

- Another thing that's annoying me is how the bandwagon is back for USC and pumping up their team for demolishing an overrated Arizona St. Again, if their so great, they don't lose to Oregon St. But what do I know

On a diff note, I went to Fox Sports Grill to watch the OU-UT game, didn't really understand how diehard both fans are. I arrived at game time, the place was already standing room only, depending upon the side the fans were crunk for the entire time. I mean they went apeshit on a 1st and 10 play if their team moved the ball just 5 yrds. Between the Texas fans shouting Boomer bitches and the OU fans chanting Horns Suck, pretty crazy. Oh yea, good ole JR from the WWE was in the bldg. I felt blessed. LOL

Gangsta D:

Aren't you the guy that HATED Big 12 football? I mean, HATED it? lol

Waldini:

Still hate it but I respect it lol. Such a juxtaposition.... Read more!

Who Ya Got?!?

Ole Miss vs S. Cack

Waldini: If this were early Sept, I'd say slam dunk Spurrier, Smelley, Garcia, etc win this. But Nutt and one-time UT wunderkind Jevan Snead are making this happen in the SEC West. OLE MISS

Gangsta D: Here's the thing about Houston Nutt teams. They can pull off a big upset one week, then look like absolute dogshit the next. Of course, the Cocks have looked like dogshit every week, so there's that. I guess I have to go with the Rebs, but I wouldn't be surprised if Spurrier pulled this one out.

Realist: Ole Miss

Oregon vs USC

Waldini: They're at home and they should be fighting mad. MEN OF TROY

Gangsta D: Trojans. They will have had 10 days to steam over that loss. Oregon has a trumpet player at QB, so many of them have gone down. I think it gets ugly quick.

Realist: USC

tOSU vs 'Sconsin

Waldini: Wells is still banged up and as much hype Pryor got, they still aren't destroying lesser opponents. Bounce back game for Wisconsin. WISCONSIN

Gangsta D: Neither of these teams impress me. Badgers in a close one.

Realist: Tough loss at Michigan last week. They won't let this one get away at home. Wisconsin

AU vs Vandy

Waldini: this is a trap game. I want to pick Vandy b/c they are undefeated. I want to pick Vandy cuz College gameday is broadcasting live from there for the first time ever. But it's Vandy, the perennial academic juggernaut but also constant cellar dweller. I won't be mad if they prove me wrong. AUBURN

Gangsta D: It's the year of the eggheads. If Vandy AND Duke go to bowl games this year, I'm setting all kinds of shit on fire. Car, computer, couch, shoes, er'ething. Still, I got to believe Auburn's pure talent will get them the win.

Realist: Auburn. Mostly because Vandy hasn't beaten Auburn since the 50's.

Duke vs G-Tech

Waldini: This ain't Virginia. If David Cutcliffe continues this success, it wouldn't shock me if he replaced Fulmer next year LOL. GA. TECH

Gangsta D: Duke is two years away from being mediocre. Tech is already there, so I gotta give them the nod. But this game will be uncomfortably close.

Realist: Georgia Tech

FSU vs Miami

Waldini: Was it that long ago, this was THE game of the college football season. Times are tough. MIAMI

Gangsta D: Even though we are 2-2, I have such a good feeling about this team. I just feel like they are sooo close to doing some damage. Next year, I expect full on beast mode. But we got some growing pains to get through. Miami wins in a squeaker...again. I expect sloppy, explosive, and bewilderment(Bowden).

Realist: I just don't believe in the Nole offense. The defense is solid but we're playing hot potato at the QB position. This ain't the Orange Bowl (RIP) but I still can't pick them this year on the road. Miami Read more!

Bad Kicks, Worse Raps, Great Rivalry

On Saturday, two former College Football behemoths will collide once again on the gridiron. FSU travels to South Forida to take on my beloved Hurricanes. Nope, these teams aren't as they used to be when they held sway over CFB in the 80's & 90's. Nevertheless, the games are usually tight and often decided by a FG...which is usually missed by a Florida State kicker.

The games weren't always close though. Since I'm a bit of an old school junkie, I dug in the crates and pulled out a gem. The Seminole Rap. Back in '88, the 'Noles were coming off a 1-loss season and were bringing virtually everyone back. Consequently, they were considered the preseason #1 team. The players were so confident in their abilities, that they decided to not only record a braggadocious song but to also shoot a video for it. Have a gander.

Yeah, if you couldn't get through the entire 5 minutes I won't blame you. I've had shits that had more appeal than that monstrosity. Entertaining in an Amy Winehouse sort of way? Yes. Endearing in any respect? Hell no. Now Bobby says that the players came up with the idea when he was in Europe, and there was nothing he could do to stop it upon returning. Riiiight. If you say so, coach.

At any rate, the young Seminoles were feeling themselves a little too much. Steve Walsh and Co. came out of the tunnel and proceeded to beat the fucking breaks off of FSU. It was a curb stomping that would've made Derek Vinyard proud. The ultimate irony, nevertheless, is that FSU kept their mouths shut in '89 and actually beat Miami. Unfortunately they lost to some guy named Frvruh, or something like that, and Miami won the national title anyway.

FSU would ultimately get their revenge in '93. They beat my beloved 'Canes and FINALLY won Bobby a national title. At the time, I even felt a little twinge of joy for the old coot. Because even though I'm a huge Miami homer, I actually respect the Noles. They don't bring forth the piss, bile, and pure hatred that the Gators manage to conjure. No, I can tolerate the Noles just fine. To be honest, I think college football is just a wee bit better when both teams are good. I just want the The U's good to be a little better. Either that, or FSU's kickers to be a little worse.

The Lee Van Cleef Cronicles - Week 3

Waldini:

So many games, another round of ranked teams getting upset, and a better indication of how some of the so-called top teams are. Enjoy the latest version of the good, the bad, and the ugly

The Good: Waldini goes 6-0 in the weekly picks, SEC having 5 teams in the top 5, Georgia's Defense, UNLV shocking Arizona St in Arizona, OU's offense, Mizzou's offense

The Bad: Purdue choking, Georgia's offense, Cal's performance against Maryland, Pac 10's record against the Moutain West last weekend.

The Ugly: Auburn-Miss St game, Ohio St's offense, Weis' tearing his ACL, UCLA's entire team (offense, defense, special teams)

Gangsta D:

Nobody cares about your picks punk!

The Auburn-Miss St game was maybe the worse football I've ever seen outside of a middle school game. Every coach involved should have to forfeit their game check.

Waldini:

Jealousy is an ugly emotion tric :-)

Sat night for college football was disappointing. Aub-Miss was boring, Oklahoma was blowing out Ace's team, and USC was toying with THE OSU. I ended up watching No Country for Old Men, then going out to a party. Read more!

Who Ya Got?!?

G Tech vs Va Tech

Waldini: Wow talk about a role reversal game. G Tech's on a high after shocking BC, VT has been down in the dumps after being upset by the mighty East Carolina squad. I think Beamer has his boys up for this game, even though I lack faith in Glennon.....HOKIES

Gangsta D: The Flexbone baby! Paul Johnson is an unadulterated genius! OK, enough with the hyperbole. Neither one of these teams is an offensive juggernaut. Even with Tyrod Taylor jumping into the huddle, don't expect many fireworks from the Hokies. I expect this to be a 17-13 game...to be won by the...Hokies.

Realist: VT

KU vs S Fl

Waldini: Mangini's like the Rick Majerus of College Football (hearty size appetite). Are the Jayhawks for real? Are they a flash in the pan team? Same questions apply to S Florida. They struggled against UCF, even though the year before, they smashed that team by 50. Gimme S FLORIDA since the game's at home.

Gangsta D: Mangini is unlike any other. Dude has his own orbit. Anyway, KU lost their DC from last year, as a Cane fan I just want to THANK YOU!! So, I don't know that the D will be as stout as it was last year. Going up against Grothe, their going to need a good defensive effort. I got the Bulls, cause they're at home.

Realist: KU

UCLA vs BYU

Waldini: I'm still steaming Smokey choked to UCLA. Their QB was horrible. Their offense was garbage. Let me stop. As a wise man said, winners win, losers lose. UCLA won. PERIOD. I don't know enough about BYU besides they won in UW with a bogus call. See above statement on Winners. who wins this? COUGARS

Gangsta D: UW is kind of a horrible team, save for Jake Locker, and they hung with the Cougars up until the refs did them dirty. Long story short, I'm not sold on BYU. Can the Bruins maintain that Neuheisel Magic, that seems to only last 2-3 years before deteriorating into a pit of something so foul not even Mike Rowe would stick his head into? Yes! I'm riding with the Golden Child.

Realist: UCLA

UGA vs S Cack

Waldini: Spurrier's going back in time with using two QBs this wknd. Prblm is these two aren't his Gator QBs. As much as the Gamecock's d is hyped up, they gave up almost 30 to Vanderbilt. Now they face Stafford and Moreno. BULLDAWGS
Gangsta D: Terry Dean's not walking through that door. Dawgs by A LOT!

Realist: UGA

UM vs Notre Dame

Waldini: Pitiful Bowl Part II. This time it's UM with all the question marks...FIGHTING IRISH. It's sad I rather watch KU vs S FL than watch this debacle.

Gangsta D: Even though RichRod doesn't have his type of athletes in Ann Arbor, I gotta think they're still good enough to beat the Domers. That performance against San Diego St was pathetic. If it weren't for another gaffe by the officials, they would've lost. It'll be a slugfest, heavy emphasis on slug, but the Maize and Blue pull it out.

Realist: UM

tOSU vs USC

Waldini: I like how you added the 't' to emphasize THE Ohio State, yea yea we get it. Beanie Wells is hurt. He didn't play last week against the "mighty" bobcats and the buckeyes struggled. Men of Troy DESTROYED UVA and McKnight looked like vintage Reggie Bush. The game's in LA. You do the Math. MEN OF TROY

Gangsta D: Little known fact. My dad went to tOSU in the late 60's. That curries no favor with me. 'SC big. Like Jason Whitlock and Jamie Dukes big. It's gonna be a wrap.

Realist: tOSU Read more!

"The Whole Industry Can Hate Me, I Thugged My Way Through"

The Florida Gators are a better team than the Miami Hurricanes. That's just the way it is at this moment, not for much longer, but presently that is the case. However, when it comes to the fanbase? The Gators don't want none. Check out the video of a crew of 'Canes shutting down University Avenue, before the game last week.

Right now the haters are saying, "Pfft. Typical classless Miami behavior. Bunch of thugs looking to start a fight." You know what I have to say to that? You damn skippy! We might lose the game, but we ain't gonna shut up. We're gonna tell you about it...in the loudest voice possible. That's the Miami way! That's how you get Capone![Sorry, got carried away.]

So yeah, the 'Canes lost the game. Yeah, us fans are loud, boorish, arrogant, and ready to start shit. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Blah, blah, blah. You can say whatever you want, but the fans are gonna talk shit and swallow spit no matter what. Read more!

Who Ya Got?!?

Yeah the games this week kind of suck. When you're grab bagging NU vs Duke, you know the quality is lacking.

Me 3-3
Waldini 4-2
Realist 4-2

The U vs The Crocs

Waldini: Tebow needs to graduate and the Canes need a few more good recruiting seasons before I say they beat Florida. Florida

Gangsta D: Here's a little nuggett for the massess. Miami has just as much speed as Florida. I know it seems hard to believe, but it's true. Shannon and Myer recruit the exact same high schools. It's not like Miami's skill players are from Idaho and Florida's have Jamaican genes. Miami has talent, it's just unproven. But there's something about college football, where the unexpected can happen in a flash. Miami will pound the rock harder than Jay-Z and they will punish every Florida ball carrier. Of course, you weren't expecting me to pick Tebow over my 'Canes were you? Saturday night, we get back on the good foot.

Realist: UF at home? AND they stole Miami's swag??? I hope it's competitive and I hope Miami wins, but it won't happen this year. UF

BC vs GTech

Waldini: Both teams are middle of the pack ACC. Boston College

Gangsta D: I don't know. For some reason, I want Paul Johnson's offense to work at Tech. It's been the source of much derision since he was hired. I think Tech gets it done.

Realist: GTech is a tease every year. BC

WVU vs ECU

Waldini: WVU aint Va Tech (I hope) West Virginia

Gangsta D: Pat White is throwing the ball? What in tarnation? ECU shut down Va Tech's offense last week, but the 'Eers are a bit more dynamic. We know Pat can run, but if he keeps slinging the ball around WVU is gonna be ruthless this year. 'Eers in a romp.

Realist: WVU

OSU vs PSU

Waldini: I know nothing about either team besides the game being in Happy Valley. Penn St

Gangsta D: Penn State just suspended like half their team, or something like that. Nevertheless, the Beavers aren't going to fly across country and beat the Nittany Lions at State College. USC, they are not.

Realist: Penn St

USF vs UCF

Waldini: Coin flip, USF wins

Gangsta D: Ummm....yeah...I got nothing. USF

Realist: USF

NU vs Duke

Waldini: Do I really have to pick this Gangsta? Ok, after a shot of sake, it's Mike Wilbon's alma mater in a stinkfest. Northwestern

Gangsta D: Oh it's gonna be awesome BABY!! Can you believe what Cutcliffe is doing at Duke? He is a star! An absolute flat out coaching star. They're gonna be rocking and rolling BABY! Watch out America, the Duke Blue Devils are PTP'ers BABY!! Dipsy doo dunkaroo!Dingle Dangle Dunkelrpwoyrpqwuryepwruyweprvcxvckvbfdrtretgvjdfnrfd! I'm so excited I can't even understand myself!!!

Lee Van Cleef Chronicles - Week 1

Waldini:

The GOOD - Utah beating Michigan in Ann Arbor. USC's offense. Mizzou's offense. Gamecock's Defense. Julio Jones. Western Illinois almost pulling off a shocker in Arkansas. Pat White.

The BAD - Clemson losing badly on national stage and in a neutral site. Tenn choking in the Rose Bowl. OSU's Wells and Mizzou's Macklin (2 VIP for their teams) getting hurt. Big East's non-conference record. Miss St's loss at Louisiana Tech.

The UGLY - The Hokies choking at East Carolina. Texas A&M losing at home to Div 1-AA Arkansas St. Pitt losing to Bowling Green at home.

Vol commentary - The defense looked good, the offense looked bad, and special teams was a joke. You get 4 INTs in the first half and only turn that into 7 pts. Foster's fumble in the first half on a probable scoring drive hurt. But nothing hurt worst than watching Lincoln butcher kick after kick including a chip shot in OT. Crompton doesn't look comfortable at all. If this team wins 9 or more games, it will be a successful season. But that's a reach. They play Florida, Auburn, and Georgia back to back to back. Where's my Advil :-)

Gangsta D:

You sure Clemson doesn't belong in the "Ugly" category? That was pathetic. That was beyond pathetic. Jamie Harper starts the game at running back when you have Spiller & Davis? Are you serious? Bowden should've been fired after Harper fumbled:)

Waldini:

I was close to putting them there but I left them off b/c 'Bama was at least ranked. But I agree, don't know WTF was up w/Bowden starting Harper ahead of two NFL draft picks. He made Saban look like a genius....

Gangsta D:

Now everyone is gonna be overestimating Alabama. "Could Bama challenge for the Nat'l title this year?!?!?" Slow down like Brand Nubian. Let's take this week by week. Read more!

Who You Got?!?

College Football is HERE!!! And with that, it's time to kickstart our annual Pick 'Em. Last year I won going away, and I expect the trend to continue this year.

Gangsta D 0-0
Waldini 0-0
Realist 0-0

Clemson vs Alabama

Waldini: Is this the year the Tigers FINALLY live up to expectations? Is this the year Saban's so called top recruiting classes come through? On one hand you got the ACC's top returning QB and one of the nation's top backfields. On the other hand, the game's in Tuscaloosa. [Ed. Note Bama-Clemson is in the Georgia dome] Hmmm, tough call but I'm sticking with Thunder and Lightning. TIGERS

Realist: Clemson

Gangsta D: THIS is the year. Tommy Bowden gets it DONE this year. Nah, I'm not feeling it either. Tried to talk myself into it. Clemson will be Clemson, which means a hot start. I think they get it started right against bama. Saban just doesn't have the athletes yet, although Julio Jones appears to be a beast. Clemson whups up on the Tide, and get everyone in South Cack primed for disappointment.

USC vs UVA

Waldini: I was getting ready to question you on putting this game in the pick 'em Gangsta. But with Sanchez having a bad wheel, it's not a slam dunk anymore. Still Al Groh has been a perennial loser at the pro and college level (Side trivia two former AFC East coaches battle it out). TROJANS

Realist: USC

Gangsta D: Yeah, it seems like a mismatch but Week 1 is slim pickens for quality matchups. The Wahoos are woefully undermanned against the Trojans. But 'SC does have to fly cross country and that's always tough. But not tough enough. 'SC by 25 at least.

Appalachian St vs LSU

Waldini: Again another one that prbly would have been a slam dunk if Perriloux (sp?) hadn't screwed himself (and LSU). This is a trap game as App St returns their star players. Is this game at night and on ESPN? You know LSU always rises to the occassion in that scenario. I'm picking LSU but I love it if App St pulled off two shockers this decade. TIGERS

Realist: LSU

Gangsta D: App St BITCH!!! Yeah I said it. I'm willing to fall a game behind, just to be bold. This pick is gangsta...just like me.

Mizzou vs Illinois

Waldini: Illinois is the South Carolina of the Midwest. That means every 6-8 years they have that magic season where they do damage. For the time in between they are mediocre. Yea I know Juice is back but Mendenhall is gone. And Zook is still there. Juice's got the name, Chase has got the game. TIGERS

Realist: Mizzou

Gangsta D: Chase Daniel appears to be the truth. That would make Juice Williams the false, or something like that. No Mendenhall, and Regus Benn can't be effective if Juice doesn't get him the ball. Plus Zook is coaching, so there's that. Tigers by a bunch.

Utah vs Meechigan

Waldini: Man, everyone is picking against Rodriguez. Count me in that bandwagon. UTES

Realist: Utah

Gangsta D: Apparently Utah is really good this year. Michigan is implementing a whole new offensive system, and they don't have a QB who can run it. Rich Rod will eventually get his kind of athletes, but that's not gonna help him this weekend. Utes.

UT vs UCLA

Waldini: Tenn isn't as bad as Illinois but they have had a bad trend of falling off after posting surprise seasons in this decade. Olson is out, I don't know who the backup is, and the coach is new. Crompton's not exactly experienced either. I think Tenn gets lucky that UCLA has QB issues. TENN

Realist: UT

Gangsta D: The Bruins don't have a QB. The Vols may not have a QB. The Vols have to travel across the country, which didn't really turn out all that well last year. But, the Vols are a better team so I'm riding with Smokey. Read more!
