What To Do? What To Do?

Waldini:

I'm in the down time of my sports watching as football and basketball are over. I've stopped actively trying to get home in time to watch Around the Horn, PTI, etc and I have not been frequently checking sports sites. I know Wimbledon has started but I honestly don't start caring about the results until the 4th round and beyond. Tiger is out for the year so my interest in golf is zilch. The Olympics are coming but for some reason, I'm not pumped to watch it (even with the Team USA bball announcements)

What to do, what to do. I remember how I used to get geeked to watch the draft on TNT (NBA TV has been replaying some of those drafts). HowEVAH, listening to Screamin A rant about which GM or team is moronic and Dickie V shout out Diaper Dandy on every player just doesn't do it for me

Sports suggestions? Or should I do the anti-negro thing and pick up a book

Gangsta D:

Books? What are they?

I think Stephen A is only doing interviews this year. He's not on the main panel. But yeah, once you get past the top five picks, there's not much to get excited about. But yeah, there isn't much going on. The Olympics just don't have the cache anymore. Do you know who the top sprinters are? I used to watch gymnastics, but if Dominique Dawes isn't shaking it, why watch? I'm going to officially learn to play the piano. I can play simple chords and melodies, but I need to edumacate myself. So, nope no sports suggestions.

Waldini:

Thank goodness for that. But still I don't think I'm going to watch. Even if LA had a decent pick, I still would do something else.

Between him almost starting to talk, almost running, and soon to be in a swim class, I think Tyler is my summer activity lol

Da Realist:

Learn a new language. :-)

I just won a grant to study in Bordeaux, France for 2 weeks. I don't know when I'll go yet but hopefully sometime this summer. Read more!

The Decline Of ESPN, The Suckage Of Stephen A, & The Inadequacies Of Mark Jackson

Gangsta D:

Remember when Sportscenter was the lick?

On this night Patrick, whose succinct trademark phrases, such as "The whiff!" and "Gone!" are ESPN cult classics, is trying out an exotic basketball term. Instead of referring to an easy shot as a layup or a dunk, he calls a shot a "bunny," as in "Lloyd Daniels blows the bunny." He does this once, and Olbermann, off-camera, turns in surprise and mouths, "Bunny?" Patrick says it again, and Olbermann smiles and shakes his head. Then, when Olbermann's turn comes to do a basketball highlight, he watches Greg Anthony of the New York Knicks miss a three-point shot and slyly ad-libs, "And he misses the bunny-and-a-half!" When the show is over, Norby Williamson, 29, the producer of the 11:30 SportsCenter, asks if perhaps there weren't a few too many bunnies. Patrick doesn't miss a beat. "They do multiply," he says.

Waldini:

And then ESPN 2 and ESPN news but expanded telecasts messed it all up lol

Gangsta D:

A lot of things messed it up. I'm looking at you Skip, Salisbury, and Stephen A!!! lol

Waldini:

Funny u mention Skip. I was watching 1st Take last week with him and he was in mid season form with his ranting about how arrogant it was for Tiger Woods to say he could win all 4 majors in a calendar year. It's Skip so you can only get so annoyed about it. But he's an ass and whenever they paired him with Woody Paige or Stephen A, I just cringed.

At least Salisbury Steak is gone....

Gangsta D:

I'm still trying to figure out why Skip still has a job. He brings nothing to the table. He annoys anyone with a pulse. And he's stupid:)

Da Realist:

Stephen S's cool ass annoy me the most. He's so damn cool. He speaks for all the hood brothers. He's THE resident black man on the set.

Oh wait...scratch that. Mark Jackson is a FUCKING IDIOT. There. Got that out of my system.

Gangsta D:

I think Marc Jackson is OK. He's better than Reggie Miller:)

Da Realist:

That comment alone will make me disown you. Mark Jackson is a brown-nosing phony.

Waldini:

That brown nosing phony is about to be the head coach of the NY Knicks.

Da Realist:

Has the NBA gone that far? Dude has no coaching experience and he's gonna coach the KNICKS? What is this? American Idol? Can i try-out? Read more!

Quote Of The Week

Realist just text'd me and I had to post it.

Stephen A sounds like a fucking idiot on his own show. He's giving me a headache. Sports radio sucks because I don't have any other alternatives.
So true, pimpin'. So true. But can I say that that Screamin A wasn't always annoying. There was a SportsCentury episode where he's being interviewed, and he comes off calm and rational. He spoke in "regular people" tones and didn't make my ears bleed. I just wish I remembered the athlete being chronicled. It's too bad he got "Vitaled." If he left the shtick at home, people might actually care about what he has to say. Read more!

Screamin A Hawkins

Gangsta D:

Comments, questions, concerns?

http://awfulannouncing.blogspot.com/2007/02/breaking-rumor-stephen-smith-to.html

Da Realist:

I don't even watch sportscenter anymore so it desn't affect me. now i just log onto espn.com to get all the sports info i need. if i need to see a highlight? espn.com. no need for me to sit through 30 minutes of news about WNBA and hockey to find out who won the bulls game anymore. :-)

It's the changing signs of the times but who would have thought that sportscenter would become such a dinosaur? the internet is completely changing the game. and oh yeah, TIVO (and other dvr's) better join on the internet train or it will be left behind too. i already have the capability to record live shows onto my hard drive (although it's cumbersome). once they integrate tv's with the internet directly (i know it's already started), my computer becomes a de facto TIVO without the extra costs.

This might be a reason they are hiring stephen a smith in the first place -- to drum up interest.

Gangsta D:

I just realized I rarely watch SC in the evening. But you know what's funny? i don't even watch SC in the morning anymore. That was required viewing once upon a time. Instead, I watch the Discovery Channel or I'm on the internet. Did the internet really have that big of an effect? It's like I've been neglecing my wife of 19 years. Couple that with my refusal to watch Sports Reporters. I never thought this day would come.

Da Realist:

It hit me suddenly too. one day sean was talking abut some highlight on SC and i thought, "i don't think i've watched SC in a least a year". then i realized i didn't really miss it cause i went to espn.com and saw the same highlight there. even the sunday night conversations are posted online.
