King James...he'll save every one of us

Waldini:

The article is mainly on Lebron's MVP campaign but interesting comparisons between the glory days and today's NBA players. I still don't completely understand PER ratings and the stats used but the outcome noted in those links is an eye opener...

Da Realist:

PER rates how players perform against the competition they face. Therefore Lebron's PER is based on 2009, not 1988. Just saying. I don't understand how PER is calculated but I know that comparing today's PER against the PER's from 20 years ago makes no sense.

League has no nuts now. Does PER measure that?

Waldini:

How do you measure Zach Randolph cold cocking Louis Edmundson last
night? Zach threw an elbow first, stood over Louis second, and then
straight suckered punch him last.

I LOVE THIS GAME

Gangsta D:

That was some straight up, playground bully type ish. That's the most
emotion he's shown since Mich St:)

Waldini:

Notice he didn't try that with STAT, Shaq, or heck even the rookie Lopez. He picked on the 12th man.

It looks worse because Edmundson didn't retaliate at all. The man was elbowed, thrown to the ground, and smacked in the face. Yet he was the one running.... Read more!

Sun-set

Waldini:

One of your players wins the MVP, another scores the 2nd most points
behind Kobe, and another's wife did a good job singing the Canadian
national anthem. But what happens today, coach gets canned. These are
your suns. I honestly think a behind the scenes book covering everything
from 2004 until now would be a top seller. So MUCH drama behind the
scenes for a team that will be remembered mostly for producing 2 MVP
awards and having more disgruntled All Star players than I can recall in
some time on one team (Joe Johnson, Matrix, STAT)

Funny note, I did like Kobe's line about we're not gonna go in the back
and watch Steel Magnolias. And my son gave a thumbs up for Shaq dancing
with Jabbawockeez

Gangsta D:

Apparently now they're gonna go back to the old style. Well why didn't
they hire a coach that coached that way in the first place? How did
Steve Kerr earn a GM job? Being a tv analyst and being a GM are two
different things. Just because he hit wide open jump shots, created by
Jordan, doesn't mean he knows basketball.

Waldini:

this article reiterates your point, although Kerr wasn't responsible for all of this

"You might remember the 2005 All-Star Game in Denver that turned into a tribute to the fun-and-gun Suns. Amaré Stoudemire, Shawn Marion and Steve Nash made the Western Conference team. Mike D'Antoni was the coach. Quentin Richardson won the three-point contest, Nash captured the skills competition and Stoudemire shined in the dunk before bowing out. Five years later, we can imagine the 2010 game turning into a tribute to what the Suns might have been had they not written the book on how to dismantle a franchise in seven seconds or less."

Sad considering all the young players they drafted and traded away (Rudy, Andre, Nate, RONDOOOOO) Read more!

He's a brick wall, I'm a corvette....

Waldini:

Did you know that Shaq-Kobe had a wiki page?

"The "Shaq-Kobe feud" was the "bitter rivalry" between Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, who played together on the National Basketball Association's Los Angeles Lakers team from 1996 to 2004. Before their rivalry exploded, the two were able to win 3 consecutive NBA Championships (2000, 2001, 2002) and made an NBA Finals appearance in 2004. Ultimately personal differences and arguments over their respective roles on the team led to a series of trades and signings that sent O'Neal to the Miami Heat. Lakers head coach Phil Jackson would later write a book entitled The Last Season: A Team in Search of Its Soul, reflecting on the troubles Bryant and O'Neal had during their last season. "

Me neither, read it because of all the overexposure their new lovefest has gotten by the media

Gangsta D:

My God. What is the world coming to?

Waldini:

Apparently one where someone takes the time out to create a page
dedicated to these two :-0

Gangsta D:

They have to be the most overexposed couple since Charles and Diana.
Give it a rest people. They didn't want to kill each other in LA, and
they're not bosom buddies right now. Leave it alone.

Waldini:

Kobe's postgame line summed it best. I'm not repeating it because I'm already sick of people repeatedly showing, restating, and overanalyzing that ONE line :-) Read more!

What Kind Of Man Calls Himself "Big Baby?"

Waldini:

Alright TJ Rosen, where's your instant analysis b/c I know you watched the Celts-Lakers tonight :-)

Da Realist:

Refs were horrible.

Kobe was 10-29 and was shut down AGAIN by Paul Pierce.

Offensively, Paul Pierce looks old as dirt...and almost as slow.

The Celtics made too many turnovers.

Lakers bench played well. Ariza and somebody (I forgot his name) in particular.

Odom and Gasol put the Lakers on their back and got a win

Waldini:

I KNEW U WERE WATCHING!!

The refs were indeed horrible. The Lakers were fortunate to win with that foolishness

You are prbly thinking of Farmar or Powell b/c Sasha was horrible

No criticism of the Celtics Big 3?

The Lakers got back in the game in the 4th b/c of Kobe...and those were 3s he dropped on the Truth

Pau played well overall but a few times in the 4th and OT, he played scared (should have DUNKED on Ray Ray)

If I'm the Celtics, I'm worried that I got beat by an undermanned Laker squad that played horribly.....

Da Realist:

I don't think it's that big of a deal.  Good win for the Lakers but it's still just a regular season game.  Unless you feel confident that the Lakers will beat the Celtics in a 7 game series with Kobe regularly going 10-29.  I don't.

Even still.  I don't believe the Celtics are gonna get past Cleveland anyway.  I think we'll have Cleveland vs LAL in the Finals.  Lebron vs Kobe.

Waldini:

If he goes 13-23 like he did in the Christmas game, they will.

Actually the Lakers needed to win this. Yes it's only regular season and I know they have said publicly it's just another game. But in this new age where every media outlet constantly keeps showing highlights or full games of last season's FINALS and mentioning how soft you are, it eats at you internally. They should not be happy how they played b/c collectively they played bad d (pick and roll was killing them) and they missed too many FTs.

More importantly it's matters b/c the Lakers want homecourt throughout the entire playoffs, not just the West.

As for Cavs over Celtics, it doesn't matter to me. I expect another 7 game dramatic down to the wire series again. I tell you when Lebron gets that jumper consistently going, it will be over. He is a freak of nature

Get 'Em Lane!

Waldini:

What the hell are you doing Lane?

"I'm gonna turn Florida in right here in front of you," Kiffin said, according to WVLT-TV. "While Nu'Keese was on campus, his phone kept ringing. One of the coaches says, 'who's that?' And he said, 'Urban Meyer.' "...

Kiffin told the crowd, "I love the fact that Urban had to cheat and still didn't get him."
Gangsta D:

How to make friends and influence people:) Lane is my new hero.

Waldini:

He had to have known he was publicly going to get reprimanded.

Gangsta D:

Of course. He's not stupid. He's gotta show potential recruits that he has no fear of Florida. Swagger goes a long way.

Waldini:

Afraid of Florida, or any school for that matter, that I know he and Pops Kiffin are not. But don't show yo ass yet until you do something on the field.

Gangsta D:

Fair point. But it's the SEC. If cats aren't fighting, or calling people out their names, or running up the score it just wouldn't be the same.

Waldini:

Haha true. But until Tenn is among the upper echelon of the SEC, just quietly do you, beat your opponents, and then come out swinging.

Lord knows how much shit I was talking to Tyrone when Tenn FINALLY beat Florida in '98 ('What'chu gotta say about Citrus and UT now trick). But that was AFTER. Read more!

Rogue's Gallery: Mum-Ra, Snakes Eyes, & A Helmet-less Destro

Da Realist:

Classic.

Gangsta D:

I hope Snarf isn't in the big screen adaptation...if it ever comes out.

Waldini:

Ancient Spirits of Hollywood do NOT transform this old cartoon into a LIIIIVEEE adaptation AaRRGGHGHGH

Gangsta D:

It all depends on the makeup. If the makeup looks janky, it's gonna suck. But if Rick Baker does it, and it looks dope, you can't tell me you wouldn't be first in line to see it. It would be EPIC. But it just depends on how the characters look.

Waldini:

I'm not gonna say I will never see it b/c I had very negative thoughts on transformers before it came, saw it, and loved it (I'm so there for Transformers 2). I just saw the GI Joe trailer, also am not feeling seeing it but who knows, never say never.

I mean they got GI Joe this summer, Voltron on the horizon, and Thundercats soon after.

Gangsta D:

I just want to see Snake Eyes vs Storm Shadow and I'll be good. The rest looks like Ehhhhh. Destro without the helmet? All righty then. I'm sure we'll see it at some point in the movie, but he's just not Destro withthout the helmet:)

Waldini:

Man do you remember how hard it was to find the Original Snake Eyes and
Storm Shadow in the toy store :-) ?

Gangsta D:

No. Cause I got neither! Lol I did have Shipwreck though:)
