Running The Bulls

Gangsta D:

OK, this is for the Bulls' fans. When did they get good again? And did they get good in spite of Vinny Of The Black, or because of him? I have to admit I didn't even know they were "playoff-eligible" until last week:)

G-Nice

That's just hate and you know it!

They are not good. That would be an overstatement. They are competing, which is a monster step up from last year. Derrick Rose is the truth and John Salmons, surprising to me because I swear I thought he was going to be a big old tool, has been very solid. The Bulls play a 7, maybe 8 man rotation and have just been going for broke. No, they are not good. But they are building, and I hope they steal two game from Boston.

Gangsta D:

Like I'm gonna deny my hate:)

Rose is indeed the truth. Can't keep him out of the lane, and with no Garnett....I'm just saying. He could do some damage.

Waldini:

Rose is a stud, Tyrus Thomas needs a jumper, Deng hasn't been mentally right since the Kobe rumors, Gordon's offense is sic but it's all about him, Salmons has been steady, Noah has shocked me by not being a complete bust, and Vinny the Black should get serious Coach of the Year consideration for getting this team in a 6 seed. I say all that to say Celtics in 5 :-)

You haters got 2 days to hop on the Lakers' bandwagon b4 me and D close the door Read more!

Pass The Ammunition

Waldini:

Man, I would have robbed some Magic player after the game

The Magic pulled the cruellest of April Fool's Day pranks on an unsuspecting
victim last night. The blindfolded fan heaved a half-court shot that he thought
was worth $100,000 (U.S.), and the crowd, in on the gag, went wild in the
moments after he let it go. Convinced he'd swished the improbable shot and won
the cash, the victim celebrated wildly. "I actually just got laid off from
work," he said, "but we're going on a trip." When the rug was pulled, he did not
look pleased.
Gangsta D:

Why would a CORPORATE entity pull a stunt like that during these times? If I was that dude, I would've cussed out everyone. Probably would've started a couple fist fights too. Dicks.

Waldini:

See it's got us upset and we not even that dude :-). Let's hop in the car and issue a Wonder Twin beatdown

Gangsta D:

If I were him, I'd sue for...I don't know. Something! lol

Waldini's Rant: Bitter Is Best Served With Krispy Kreme

Waldini:

I'm starting to see I'm more and more like Realist everyday. We both from the South, married, got kids, are Com Sci Hoez, and like Bojangles (He's frontin in public D but he tells me he's a sucker for Bo Berry Biscuits). I say this b/c I remember him expressing disgust on the NBA Awards, and I'm starting to feel the same...

MVP - Pretty much Lebron's to lose but I wish folks would stop saying he's doing more with less on his team. If that less includes a 3 time All Star (Zydrunas), a 4 time Defensive player of the Year/former champ (Big Ben), a #1 overall pick (Joe Smith), and current/former All

Stars (Wally's World, Mo Williams), then I'm scared of what more means. I'm loving Wade's comeback season but his inclusion in the MVP debate is retarded. Kobe put up the same numbers in '06, cat finished a distant 5th. This ain't the MLB

Defense - I almost choked when someone said Garnett was the best defensive player in the game today? Best? as in the top of the heap? Yea he made Boston's team defense better but best individual defensive player? I guess it's all marketing these days

Rookie - I rarely get caught up in this anymore b/c the race is normally over after a month. Don't think so, go look at the past winners. Name at least 2 people that challenged the ROY in each year...I'm daring you

Yea I'm ranting and that's cuz I got 3 Krispy Kremes in me....You got a problem with that!

Gangsta D:

My God! What the Hell happened to you? You've aged 20 years since Greyson's birth.

Waldini:

I know man. I finally hit me I was a parent on Sat when I took my son to the play center. Some kid tried to punk him by pushing him down and I told him to get back up, get your toy, and tell that kid no hitting....

Smile! It's Vodka Time...Three Olives Style

Three Olives did me the kind favor of sending a free bottle of their Cherry flavored vodka. [Thanks guys!!!] In return for the swag, I promised to give a review of my experience...and here it is.

First off, I have to give props to the wrapping that the vodka came in. Very sexy guys. Now to set the stage, my girl came over to my place to take part in a scrumptious seafood feast and drink Three Olives Cherry vodka with me. After we finished eating, we popped in a DVD, got some ice, two shot glasses, and a 2-liter bottle of Sprite. We have an intimate knowledge of the Three Olive brand, and Sprite usually goes best with it. So I pour copious amounts of vodka into the shaker, with only a smidgen of Sprite, and serve up the shots....DAMN GOOD is the response! My girl and I look at each other and say "Smooth. Very smooth." We then decide to take things to the next level, and omit the Sprite.

Cut to: ten minutes later the bottle is gone, we're buzzing, eating leftover potatoes and sausage, wishing Three Olives had sent us a bigger bottle.

My girl and I drink Three Olives all the time [no lie] and we know for a fact that you're not going to be in a world of hurt the next morning. Furthermore, every Three Olives flavor is good enough to drink straight, but you definitely want to keep it chilled. If we can get serious for a moment, taking a Three Olives shot with a lime on the side, may just be the best drink you'll have all night. In conclusion, Three Olives Cherry [or any of their flavors] brand is pretty damn awesome! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm on my way to the liquor store to scoop up another bottle. Read more!

Crooked Officer! Crooked Officer!

Waldini:

This has been the talk of Texas today.

A police officer was placed on administrative leave Thursday over a traffic stop involving an NFL player whom he kept in a hospital parking lot and threatened to arrest while his mother-in-law died inside the building.
Gangsta D:

Isn't Frisco where you live?

But yeah, that cop needs a good old-fashioned country ass kicking. He's the reason some people hate cops.

Waldini:

This happened in Plano :-). The good cops of Frisco would nev - wait what am I saying. These mofos in Frisco gave me a ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLAR speeding ticket for going 52 in 45 mph zone.

Yea all these cops can eat a fat one! Read more!

Be A Father To Your Child....

Waldini: Another reason why I'm sure Gangsta won't have children. Damn Travis

"Henry maintained that he was involved long-term with many of the mothers. Some, he said, told him they were using birth control, and he professed surprise at discovering they had become pregnant by him."I did use protection at first," he said. "Then they'd be saying they'd be on the pill. I was an idiot to trust them. Second or third time with them, I didn't use it. Then, boom!" In four instances, he attested, "I was trapped." If not for his football cachet and accompanying wealth, "I guarantee you that wouldn't have happened." "My counselor asks me, 'How can you do the same thing over and over?"' he said, unable to provide an answer."Knock on wood, or something, I'm blessed not to have AIDS."

Gangsta D: I sure as Hell ain't having nine. At some point, you just either have to stop have sex or or get fixed. After #5, you'd think he would've made an adjustment.

Waldini: It makes it worse when some of the kids are within a few months of each other. I think he's set a record for most baby mama's with 9. That is crazy.

Da Realist: This is unbelievable. I've "slipped" up a time or two but d-a-m-n. Even if i did get caught with my "hand" in the cookie jar, it would have only been one time. Nine??? Read more!

Don't Let Me Do It To Ya Dunny, Cause I Overdo It

Waldini:

I'm trying to figure out what was dumber....Darryl Morey's pre-game comments about the Laker offense not being so good when Battier is guarding Kobe or Artest in-game tactic of telling Kobe he didn't want any of him.

God Bless the Houston Rockets. The organization and fans have been personally providing comic relief for me since '98 :-)

Let me get back to searching for T-Mac's game...been pretty difficult to find for the past couple years

B. Reed:

Yeah the 4th quarter was pretty ugly when # 24 started to get busy. That's my issue with T-mac. When the game is on the line or it comes to the 4th quarter, you can count on #24. You can't say the same for T-mac or really even LeBron. You can't crown the kid king when Basketball's absolute best #24 has yet to abdicate the thrown.

Comissioner Stern:

Saw the last quarter of the game, but tivo'd it so i'll watch it again sometime today...I heard Artest shook the Black Mamba from the tree and paid a big price in the 2nd half!!!! LOL Ron Ron is too much of a vet to be doing sh*t like that...as KB24 stated "he knows better"!! LOL (qoute of the year)! Read more!

Coming Live And Direct

Waldini:

We're live at the Naval Base in Georgia and we're trying to find the Dallas Cowboys biggest fan, Gangsta D to get his thoughts on all the recent offseason activity. Chris Canty leaving, Keith Brooking coming, TO, Pac-Man, and Roy being released, what is current emotional state? There he is at his desk, mr Gangsta, what are your thoughts?

Gangsta D:

FUCK THE WORLD!!!

But seriously, Chris Canty isn't too big of a deal. Jay Ratliff is a better player, and we still have Tank. Keith Brooking? Meh. Roy was going to get cut, so I'm not sweating it. Jerry should've drafted Ed Reed anyway. TO? After the abomination that was last year, I wouldn't have cared if the whole team got traded. But to just release him and take a $10 million cap hit? After trading draft picks for the other
Roy Williams, how does this help the team? Looks to be another season of disappointment.

Waldini:

Um I wouldn't read this about Tank.

After Owens, Williams likely was the second divisive figure among Cowboys fans — especially after Dallas already got rid of Adam "Pacman" Jones and Tank Johnson.

That offense is still potent. I mean you still got Romo, Witten, the other Roy, Barber. That's a nice quartet to have. Defense, yea there may be some struggles but that O should keep them in the game. Hopefully no more circus with all those cuts

At least you sound more realistic than say K-dawg. I asked him to project the Redskins' record this year, fool says 9-7. I forgot to tell him that neither Haynesworth nor DeAngelo play QB.

Gangsta D:

Oh, well...boy that Jay Ratliff sure is great! lol

The running game is going to carry the squad. Barber, Choice, and a healthy "Cat" Jones. Hopefully Romo squares himself up and becomes more efficient. Although, I wouldn't mind adding Torry Holt. He can still ball. Read more!

Close Encounters

Waldini:

Do ya'll remember Fred Lane, the murdered NFL player? Well his ex-wife is being released . I'm only bringing this up because Deidra is a childhood friend of mine. Her brothers and I used to go to Alex English's bball camp together (side note, one of her brothers also is caught up in some mess). Their Dad is mad cool and it's just weird to see all this stuff happen....Anyway interesting...

The 33-year-old Lane served about six years in prison for voluntary manslaughter in the 2000 death of her estranged husband, Fred Lane. He played with the Carolina Panthers for three years and had been traded to the Indianapolis Colts before his death.

During her trial in 2003, prosecutors described Lane as an abusive woman who killed her husband for insurance money. Defense attorneys described a battered wife who killed in self defense.

Gangsta D:

What?!? Damn, that's deep. I once met one of the dudes that was with Ray Lewis when that cat got stabbed. It's crazy who you meet in life.

Waldini:

Yes man it is. You honestly never what is going to happen in your life and amazing at the people that come in and out of it.

King James...he'll save every one of us

Waldini:

The article is mainly on Lebron's MVP campaign but interesting comparisons between the glory days and today's NBA players. I still don't completely understand PER ratings and the stats used but the outcome noted in those links is an eye opener...

Da Realist:

PER rates how players perform against the competition they face. Therefore Lebron's PER is based on 2009, not 1988. Just saying. I don't understand how PER is calculated but I know that comparing today's PER against the PER's from 20 years ago makes no sense.

League has no nuts now. Does PER measure that?

Waldini:

How do you measure Zach Randolph cold cocking Louis Edmundson last
night? Zach threw an elbow first, stood over Louis second, and then
straight suckered punch him last.

I LOVE THIS GAME

Gangsta D:

That was some straight up, playground bully type ish. That's the most
emotion he's shown since Mich St:)

Waldini:

Notice he didn't try that with STAT, Shaq, or heck even the rookie Lopez. He picked on the 12th man.

It looks worse because Edmundson didn't retaliate at all. The man was elbowed, thrown to the ground, and smacked in the face. Yet he was the one running.... Read more!

Sun-set

Waldini:

One of your players wins the MVP, another scores the 2nd most points
behind Kobe, and another's wife did a good job singing the Canadian
national anthem. But what happens today, coach gets canned. These are
your suns. I honestly think a behind the scenes book covering everything
from 2004 until now would be a top seller. So MUCH drama behind the
scenes for a team that will be remembered mostly for producing 2 MVP
awards and having more disgruntled All Star players than I can recall in
some time on one team (Joe Johnson, Matrix, STAT)

Funny note, I did like Kobe's line about we're not gonna go in the back
and watch Steel Magnolias. And my son gave a thumbs up for Shaq dancing
with Jabbawockeez

Gangsta D:

Apparently now they're gonna go back to the old style. Well why didn't
they hire a coach that coached that way in the first place? How did
Steve Kerr earn a GM job? Being a tv analyst and being a GM are two
different things. Just because he hit wide open jump shots, created by
Jordan, doesn't mean he knows basketball.

Waldini:

this article reiterates your point, although Kerr wasn't responsible for all of this

"You might remember the 2005 All-Star Game in Denver that turned into a tribute to the fun-and-gun Suns. Amaré Stoudemire, Shawn Marion and Steve Nash made the Western Conference team. Mike D'Antoni was the coach. Quentin Richardson won the three-point contest, Nash captured the skills competition and Stoudemire shined in the dunk before bowing out. Five years later, we can imagine the 2010 game turning into a tribute to what the Suns might have been had they not written the book on how to dismantle a franchise in seven seconds or less."

Sad considering all the young players they drafted and traded away (Rudy, Andre, Nate, RONDOOOOO) Read more!

He's a brick wall, I'm a corvette....

Waldini:

Did you know that Shaq-Kobe had a wiki page?

"The "Shaq-Kobe feud" was the "bitter rivalry" between Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, who played together on the National Basketball Association's Los Angeles Lakers team from 1996 to 2004. Before their rivalry exploded, the two were able to win 3 consecutive NBA Championships (2000, 2001, 2002) and made an NBA Finals appearance in 2004. Ultimately personal differences and arguments over their respective roles on the team led to a series of trades and signings that sent O'Neal to the Miami Heat. Lakers head coach Phil Jackson would later write a book entitled The Last Season: A Team in Search of Its Soul, reflecting on the troubles Bryant and O'Neal had during their last season. "

Me neither, read it because of all the overexposure their new lovefest has gotten by the media

Gangsta D:

My God. What is the world coming to?

Waldini:

Apparently one where someone takes the time out to create a page
dedicated to these two :-0

Gangsta D:

They have to be the most overexposed couple since Charles and Diana.
Give it a rest people. They didn't want to kill each other in LA, and
they're not bosom buddies right now. Leave it alone.

Waldini:

Kobe's postgame line summed it best. I'm not repeating it because I'm already sick of people repeatedly showing, restating, and overanalyzing that ONE line :-) Read more!

What Kind Of Man Calls Himself "Big Baby?"

Waldini:

Alright TJ Rosen, where's your instant analysis b/c I know you watched the Celts-Lakers tonight :-)

Da Realist:

Refs were horrible.

Kobe was 10-29 and was shut down AGAIN by Paul Pierce.

Offensively, Paul Pierce looks old as dirt...and almost as slow.

The Celtics made too many turnovers.

Lakers bench played well. Ariza and somebody (I forgot his name) in particular.

Odom and Gasol put the Lakers on their back and got a win

Waldini:

I KNEW U WERE WATCHING!!

The refs were indeed horrible. The Lakers were fortunate to win with that foolishness

You are prbly thinking of Farmar or Powell b/c Sasha was horrible

No criticism of the Celtics Big 3?

The Lakers got back in the game in the 4th b/c of Kobe...and those were 3s he dropped on the Truth

Pau played well overall but a few times in the 4th and OT, he played scared (should have DUNKED on Ray Ray)

If I'm the Celtics, I'm worried that I got beat by an undermanned Laker squad that played horribly.....

Da Realist:

I don't think it's that big of a deal.  Good win for the Lakers but it's still just a regular season game.  Unless you feel confident that the Lakers will beat the Celtics in a 7 game series with Kobe regularly going 10-29.  I don't.

Even still.  I don't believe the Celtics are gonna get past Cleveland anyway.  I think we'll have Cleveland vs LAL in the Finals.  Lebron vs Kobe.

Waldini:

If he goes 13-23 like he did in the Christmas game, they will.

Actually the Lakers needed to win this. Yes it's only regular season and I know they have said publicly it's just another game. But in this new age where every media outlet constantly keeps showing highlights or full games of last season's FINALS and mentioning how soft you are, it eats at you internally. They should not be happy how they played b/c collectively they played bad d (pick and roll was killing them) and they missed too many FTs.

More importantly it's matters b/c the Lakers want homecourt throughout the entire playoffs, not just the West.

As for Cavs over Celtics, it doesn't matter to me. I expect another 7 game dramatic down to the wire series again. I tell you when Lebron gets that jumper consistently going, it will be over. He is a freak of nature

Get 'Em Lane!

Waldini:

What the hell are you doing Lane?

"I'm gonna turn Florida in right here in front of you," Kiffin said, according to WVLT-TV. "While Nu'Keese was on campus, his phone kept ringing. One of the coaches says, 'who's that?' And he said, 'Urban Meyer.' "...

Kiffin told the crowd, "I love the fact that Urban had to cheat and still didn't get him."
Gangsta D:

How to make friends and influence people:) Lane is my new hero.

Waldini:

He had to have known he was publicly going to get reprimanded.

Gangsta D:

Of course. He's not stupid. He's gotta show potential recruits that he has no fear of Florida. Swagger goes a long way.

Waldini:

Afraid of Florida, or any school for that matter, that I know he and Pops Kiffin are not. But don't show yo ass yet until you do something on the field.

Gangsta D:

Fair point. But it's the SEC. If cats aren't fighting, or calling people out their names, or running up the score it just wouldn't be the same.

Waldini:

Haha true. But until Tenn is among the upper echelon of the SEC, just quietly do you, beat your opponents, and then come out swinging.

Lord knows how much shit I was talking to Tyrone when Tenn FINALLY beat Florida in '98 ('What'chu gotta say about Citrus and UT now trick). But that was AFTER. Read more!

Rogue's Gallery: Mum-Ra, Snakes Eyes, & A Helmet-less Destro

Da Realist:

Classic.

Gangsta D:

I hope Snarf isn't in the big screen adaptation...if it ever comes out.

Waldini:

Ancient Spirits of Hollywood do NOT transform this old cartoon into a LIIIIVEEE adaptation AaRRGGHGHGH

Gangsta D:

It all depends on the makeup. If the makeup looks janky, it's gonna suck. But if Rick Baker does it, and it looks dope, you can't tell me you wouldn't be first in line to see it. It would be EPIC. But it just depends on how the characters look.

Waldini:

I'm not gonna say I will never see it b/c I had very negative thoughts on transformers before it came, saw it, and loved it (I'm so there for Transformers 2). I just saw the GI Joe trailer, also am not feeling seeing it but who knows, never say never.

I mean they got GI Joe this summer, Voltron on the horizon, and Thundercats soon after.

Gangsta D:

I just want to see Snake Eyes vs Storm Shadow and I'll be good. The rest looks like Ehhhhh. Destro without the helmet? All righty then. I'm sure we'll see it at some point in the movie, but he's just not Destro withthout the helmet:)

Man do you remember how hard it was to find the Original Snake Eyes and
Storm Shadow in the toy store :-) ?

Gangsta D:

No. Cause I got neither! Lol I did have Shipwreck though:)

Is www.TradeDerekFisher.com Taken?

Dear Derek,

Seriously. You go for the fucking steal?!? Going out of bounds? What could you have possibly done with that? Toss it over your head towards the Spurs basket? Then you compound your first mistake, by making an even fucking bigger mistake, fouling Roger Mason. Just stand there and let him shoot. Now, you wanna get into defensive position? Now?!? And do what exactly? Were you gonna block the shot? Fuck no. I was doing the "big balls dance" along with Kobe. Then you had to fuck it up.

And can we just say that even though Bron is the MVP so far this year, that Kobe is the best on the planet. Who else hits that shot in Mason's grill, from almost the same spot he busted in Battier's grill last night. Best. On. The. Planet.

Thanks for listening to my rant. I'm going to go light a kitten on fire.

The Curious Case of the Realist

Waldini:

Just read JA Adande's two columns (left hand side). The first column's for Realist, since he's fallen back in love with the NB er I mean Lebron. A breakdown of Kobe's D on Wade. The second column's for Gangsta and the amusement he's sure to have when he reads that Shaq wants his jersey retired at Staples.

Da Realist:

I hadn't read the article just yet, but I did watch that game last night. Kobe did a good job on Wade. But keep these two things in mind...

a) Kobe played great ball-deny defense on Wade. I saw Kobe on several occasions abandon a sound defensive position (which would have enabled him to play help defense) in an attempt to "shadow" Dwyane Wade. A few of those times, DWade dragged Kobe to the corner and allowed his teammates to drive or shoot barely contested shots. One of the reasons why the Heat stayed in the game despite Kobe's "defense" on Wade.

b) He couldn't play that type of defense on Lebron. Too big, too strong. Kobe's length bothered Wade last night. That won't help him against Lebron.

We'll see. I think Lebron's a better player than Kobe and has a team built for the playoffs. I don't think Kobe and the Lakers want to see Lebron in the finals this year. I could be wrong. That's why I got NBA Season Pass so I can better evaluate all the good teams.

We'll see.

Waldini:

you eerily sound like Charlie Rosen...and that's scary :-). All you need to do is add an antedote about a time in your life when you played ball and it's official

Da Realist:

Kobe played the same type of defense on Paul Pierce in the Finals last year. In this clip, look at how far Pierce pulls Kobe out of the play. That's bad defensive positioning. He didn't need to "hug" Paul Pierce while he was stationed near the halfcourt line. It gives Ray Allen the whole court to work with and all he has to do is beat Sasha to get a wide open layup.

Of course, Kobe wasn't the only player playing hugging their assigned player. Bad defense overall by LA in that game but teams do tend to follow their best player. If the best player is defensive minded, the team will follow. If the best player has mental lapses throughout the game, the team will follow. etc.

That shadow defense worked last night because a) Kobe's length bothered DWade, b) Miami doesn't have any other offensive threats and b) DWade doesn't have a post-up game. Waldini:

Does that mean I should expect to see other Celtics get on the ground like a dog since KG did it? Read more!

The Church Of Bron Has Converted Another Non-Believer

Waldini:

Ok I'll admit the NBA's regular season has reverted to old form and producing one boring game after another. Last year was a Cinderella season with a lot of games must see TV. So far this year, it's been 3 teams (I still don't believe in Orlando) and everybody else chasing. So I decided to watch the Cavs-Celtics on Fri, since this was a battle of the top 2 Eastern Conf teams, the King vs the Big 3, the probable East Conf Finals matchup and all that other stuff the media hypes up.

The outcome? I didn't come out of the game going OMG I'm witnessing history. Lebron did put a beating on them boys and his defense is better. But if ESPN keeps showing the same highlight of him stopping The Truth on one play. I'm gonna scream. I will hold judgement on putting on the all defense team until I see him do it in the playoffs consistently.

As for the Cs, fuck 'em :-). The more they lose, the more I enjoy it.

Da Realist:

Lebron's the best player in the league. And he "gets" it this year. He's a factor on both ends of the floor. He's a terror on help defense and he can get to the middle against anyone, anytime he wants. He had the Celtics shook on national tv. Yes, I know the Celtics lost 6 of the previous 8 games. I know they weren't playing well. But they were INTIMIDATED.

It's just one game, but it's really not. No one is stopping him this year. The way he controls the game...I hadn't seen that from a perimeter player since Michael Jordan. And yes I know Kobe is a great player, but he did most of his damage as a premier scorer. I don't care how many defensive awards he got, he was never this much of a factor on both ends of the floor as Lebron is right now. And Kobe was never feared. Kobe beat teams, but he never intimidated them.

Lebron's game makes everyone else on his team better. First of all, he's a better rebounder, passer and defender than Kobe is -- a significantly better help defender. Plus he's more efficient. So there's that... But more importantly, the way he attacks forces teams to pay attention to him at all times. This leaves his teammates open and they're knocking down open shots or barely contested ones. Teams are too afraid to let Lebron get to the hole. Kobe, on the other hand, is mostly a jumpshooter. A spectacular one, but still a jumpshooter. Jumpshooters don't, on the whole, compromise interior defenses. So even though Kobe may score 45+ points, the best defenders are still playing throughout the game. Lebron forces interior defenders into foul trouble, making it easier for the Cavs to score and for his teammates to get more confidence.

Even when the Cavs lose, you can almost see the other team wipe their brow and exhale. Cause they know. I don't care what happens the rest of this regular season. It doesn't even matter who has homecourt advantage. Good luck to any team trying to beat that dude 4 out of 7 games in the playoffs this year.

Waldini:

I thought you didn't watch basketball anymore LOL

Da Realist:

Lebron is changing my mind. ;-) In fact, I just bought NBA League Pass. Read more!

Got Your Game In My Back Pocket

Gangsta D:

I was just talking to a co-worker about my playground basketball abilities. I was telling her that when I'm on, no one can stop me from wetting jumpers. Then I had to clarify that no one on a local level could stop me. Even an absolute dogshit NBA scrub could lock me up. I said, "Even JJ Redick could-" Then I caught myself. Nah, JJ couldn't D me up. Could he? Even though he's an NBA player, and I'm an out of shape nobody, would it be embarrassing if I got locked down by JJ Redick? I'm thinking it would be kind of embarrassing.

Waldini:

I don't know man, you my patna and all but there's a reason they in the NBA :-)

Gangsta D:

I'm not talking about a regular NBA player, I'm talking about JJ "Freaking" Redick. If he locked you up, you wouldn't be embarrassed? Come on! And JJ ain't in the league because of his defensive prowess. Could I stop him? Fuck no. Maybe he can shut me down, but I would be mad pissed. It's JJ "Freaking" Redick for God's sake! Lol

Waldini:

With that compelling argument, how can I ever doubt you :-) Gangsta for Prez in '12. Mark it down....

I'm not saying he's unbeatable b/c some unknown cat beat Jordan in agame of one on one last year. I was just saying the odds. But ur right, his D is suspect. But that Jumper of his...deadly, well at least in college it was.

Gangsta D:

I'm not saying I could beat him one-on-one. I know for a fact I couldn't keep him from scoring. I'm just saying, if we played one-on-one with no make it/take it, and I didn't score a point, I would be mad salty. Mad. Salty. Read more!

New School Music - New Year '09 edition

It's a New Year and I'm hitting you off with New School Music to ring in the Year. The Year must be looking good for me to already have new joints on deck for the masses. I felt it's best to have you readers join me in getting up on these new artists before everyone else does. And has anyone noticed how many times I used the word "new" in this paragraph :-)? Enjoy yourselves....

Charles Hamilton - "Brooklyn Girls"

I had heard a few of Ham's tracks from some of his mixtapes. Needless to say I wasn't impressed. This couldn't have been the same cat that XXL, Vibe, Source and countless internet music sites were touting as the Hip Hop version of Prince (He plays a ton of instruments). Then one day, I'm doing my couch potato routine and this pops up on my TV. Good job of converting me back to the Force young Padawan

Asher Roth - "I Love College"

He was in the same XXL issue as Charles Hamilton aka the 10 artists to watch for in 2009. Initially I was put off by the whole let's compare him to Em because he's white yada yada yada stuff. I got past that and caught this gem online. I think I like him more for the fact that he's not trying to be something he's not and just doing him. Plus I can relate more to this than getting shot a gazillion times or being on the run from the Feds.

Median f 9th Wonder - "Visionary
"

I can't even front on taking credit for this. My boy AY put me on to this when I was visiting the Dirty Durham. He's part of the whole Little Brother-Jean Grae clique and he's backed by the infamous 9th Wonder on his album. Nice laid back flow combined with smooth beats equals a Happy Waldini.

Jay Electronica - "Swagger Jack's Revenge
"

Dude's flow is simple but you just find yourself mesmerized by what's he saying. Just peep that Cassius line. OH. MY. GOD. Just brilliant. Here's a fact that will mess your mind up. He's representing New Orleans. Yes the same New Orleans that has produced "lyrical geniuses" like Manny Fresh, Master P, Silkk the Shocker, etc. I give props to anyone that rise out of that rubbish to actually spit (For the record, I do think Weezy and Juvy can spit) decent rhymes. Like his other NO brethren, the Knux, another refresher out of the Big Easy.

GUILTY PLEASURE OF THE WEEK

Ludacris f T-Pain - "One More Drink"

Luda pisses me off repeatedly. He is one of the better rappers in hip hop. Yet his albums are always uneven to me. For every song on his album I might like, he has another I hate. Fortunately this song AND video are hilarious.
